Corsair Obsidian 650D air flow help!

I have a Corsair Obsidian 650D case and I have been thinking about buying a Corsair H80i cooler.

I would like you guys´ opinions about where to place the H80i.

I´m thinking about removing the top 200mm stock fan and placing the H80i at the top-front as an intake and then adding a 120/140mm fan at the top-rear as an exhaust.

(so I end up with the 200mm stock front fan, 120mm stock rear fan, a h80i at the top-front, and an AF140 (for example) at the top-rear)

What are your opinions on this?

Thanks

I have a 650D, but with a H100i as exhaust in the top; replacing the 200mm that was there. Don't like wasting that nice big quiet fan but whattdyagonnado?

My best solution for good case flow I delineated in this recent thread:

http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=117122

In your case (not to make a pun) because you are choosing a H80i instead, I would recommend leaving the 200mm where it is and do as Corsair usually recommends; mounting the H80i in the rear position and set the fans on it to pull air in across the mainboard, CPU and memory and it will exhaust out the top through the 200mm.

If you instead decide to choose the H100i, go with the configuration in that thread.

Hi BrunstigElg I have a system that I just built in a 650D case, with an H80 in the rear of the case as in your diag. and it works great. I also put two 140mm fans on the inside of the top.

That´s what Corsair recommends i think :P

got the same case, the h80i is on the rear fan as it is the same size.

it is a push/pull into the case, front case fan in and top case fan out

very good system, the air coming out is cold

suspect the OP's system would not be effective as having 2 top fans working in different directions with no baffle to separate the flows will fail and be noisy

Yeah, that´s my concern too

I'm no expert, but isn't it a mistake to blow air from radiators INTO the case? Aren't you just blowing hot air towards sensitive components? It would seem to me that fans that sandwich radiators should blow air OUT of the case.

I have two AF140 quiet edition fans for the top of my Obsidian 650D and an H80i at the back of my case. My plan is to have air blow into the case from the top and front and have air blow out of the case from the mounted H80i at the back of my case.

What do you guys think?

actually many recommend pulling air from the outside across the rad and into the case, this way you get cooler air flowing thru the rad...

Could anyone cite authoritative sources for the best practices for configuring a case's radiators and airflow?

Thanks

100 people = 100 different opinions,it really depends on many factors such as # of fans, strength of fans, location of fans, direction ,what hardware inside, what obstacles such as cables, type and size of case and so on.

for you its best to just try different configurations and see what works best for you.
