luzero
Hi everyone, I would like to upgrade the memory in my system. I was thinking to add an extra kit of 3x4GB next to the current 3x2GB (TR3X6G1600C9). Is this possible or will it cause stability problems? And which kit should I choose? Is the HX3X12G1600C9 the best option or should I go for another type? Your advise is highly appreciated! Thank you in advance, Luzero
peanutz94
Is this possible or will it cause stability problems? And which kit should I choose? It's possible but your chances of a stable system at rated speed is slim. Corsair does not support or suggest mixing kits even if they were a second kit of the same exact part number. If you choose to attempt this you do so at your own risk. There is not much corsair can do about it if it doesn't work. Is the HX3X12G1600C9 the best option or should I go for another type? They would work , but a 3x4gig kit would be a better choice . And if you ask me the Dominators have always run the best on the x58 chipsets A 3x4gig kit would also be less strain on the memory controller because it doesn't have to try and run 6 sticks vs 3. http://www.corsair.com/us/learn_n_explore/ http://www.corsair.com/us/memory-by-product-family/dominator.html The kit listed above would be among your best choisees.
