Vanel
What’s going on with the quality of Corsair? The first I Corsair product I ever bought was in November of 2009, it was the excellent H50 water cooler from Best Buy. I was very impressed with the cooler and decided to buy more Corsair products for my next PC build. My next build came in the Fall of 2011, I still remembered how much I loved my H50, in fact I was still using it, so I decided to use Corsair for my entire PC build. I bought the following parts all from Amazon: Corsair Enthusiast Series TX 850 Watt (TX850M) – Winter 2011 Worked fine until Winter of 2012 when I added another 2x4GB of Vengeance RAM, then it started making an *extremely* annoying beeping sound, it sounded like someone was trying to send me a Morse code message, no amount of bios tweaking made a difference. Now while I’m sure the PSU isn’t technically “bad”, there was no way I could endure that noise since the PC is in my sleeping room and left on 24 hrs. a day. Corsair Vengeance 8GB (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C8) – Winter 2011 One stick bad, Replaced by Corsair with the slower and cheaper C9 RAM. I know the speed difference is completely irrelevant, but the price difference isn't. Corsair Hydro Series H100 (CWCH100) – Winter 2011 Pump faceplate falls off as soon as I open box, it’s only held on with double sided tape. Not a big deal, but definitely didn't make me feel great about the $110+ I just paid for it. Corsair Graphite Series Black 600T (CC600TM) – Winter 2011 Case made a loud and annoying vibration type noise from what I believe to be a loose door . I wasn’t happy with the 600T for other reasons that had nothing to do with the defect so I asked if they could replace it with the 500R, which they did, even though the entire process took 2 months. Corsair 500R – Jan 2012 About 6-8 months after moving my system into the 500R from the 600T, the front USB panel dies and needs to be replaced, which I had to do myself. Not a huge problem, but definitely an inconvenience. Corsair Vengeance 8GB (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9) – Winter 2012 Bought a second pair of RAM to bring my system up to 16GB, this was the set of RAM that started to make the PSU beep. There is nothing technically wrong with the RAM that I know of. Corsair Vengeance 8GB (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9) – April 2013 Bought a third pair of RAM for use in a NAS I just built, One bad stick, this stick of RAM is so bad that the MB won’t even boot, it just goes into a restarting loop. MB boots fine with other stick of RAM in the exact same RAM slot. So basically of all these products I've bought there was only one product I didn't have some sort of issue with, which was the second pair of RAM. Maybe I wouldn't care so much if this was some cheaper brand, but I'm under the impression Corsair is supposed to be a top brand. How many more chances can I give to Corsair? Throughout all these trouble I wasn't even offered so much as a coupon. Your warranties and CS are adequate, most of the time, but I firmly believe that The best kind of warranty is the one you never have to use. I definitely factor warranties into mind with my purchases, but I try to buy from companies where I won't need the warranty in the first place.
