ZiiC
Hey guys. So I have a bit of a concern. I'm running a Corsair HX1050 PSU in my PC and ive noticed that every 10 minutes or so, the fan speed in the PSU will substantially increase but only for about 10-15 seconds. Now I have no way of exactly telling if it is my PSU or not but I think it is as I have checked my GPU fan speeds and my radiator fan speeds, as well as my chassis fan speeds. If there is any way to monitor this or figure out why its doing this that would be great. Any help is appreciated. Thanks ZiiC

ZiiC
Nothing out of the ordinary. It does it when I'm gaming, or just when I'm sitting at my desktop downloading something. It just fluctuates randomly.
Malustra
Nothing out of the ordinary. It does it when I'm gaming, or just when I'm sitting at my desktop downloading something. It just fluctuates randomly. I have the same problem with my HX1050. Seems to be usual. I think the only way is to buy another power supply.
ZiiC
So should I be sending it back and getting a new one or should I just keep this one?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 8, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 8, 2013 That is not abnormal if you are running the PSU at about 40-60% load it may be that there is not enough load to on the PSU to generate enough heat to keep the fan spinning and once it shouts off it will ramp up to full speed then come back down. jpaines
I had much the same situation with a HX1050 Gold, but since elevating the case a few inches off the floor with a Syba trolley, it stopped. The PSU is mounted on the bottom, with vents in the case at that location, where the PSU fan is positioned, along with another vent for a fan (not installed). The better air flow seems to have done it.
