elsha
Hi I have the kit Corsair DDR3 (3x2GB Corsair DDR3-1600Mhz PC12800 (TR3X6G1600C7D)) installed on a Asus P6T Deluxe V2 ... I wanted to increase the memory and buy another kit the same, but apparently is no longer on the market .. my question is: given that these are Ram C7, and now I only find on market C8 or C9 (same characteristics), are compatible C7/C8/C9? Do I need to set something in the bios or is not advisable to put them together? Thank you
peanutz94
Yeah,it's not a good idea to try mixing them. You are more than welcome to try what you like but there is just no way to predict how any two kit's would work with each other if at all, even given you had two sets of the same exact memory. Corsair will not or does not suggest mixing memory. For them to be able to guarantee that they would run correctly, you need to have all your memory come from one single matched set. Best to replace what you have with a new kit of the capacity you need . And with that board keep in mind that 4gig modules would be the largest you would be able to use. RHardy
Don't know how to subscribe to this thread, but I like it since I am in the exact same situation (nearly), so I am going to post this as well: Since I am in the same situation, I'm probably going to get a CMX or CMZ 12G module (3x4GB) and get it working in my system. And only then will I try to add back my TR3X6G1600C7 (no D though) sticks to see if I can get 18GB working at DDR3-1333Mhz. Limiting to 1333Mhz because I don't want to bump the DRAM voltage above 1.5Volts. And I'm not sure what CL I'll end up at, as I don't know if a CMX/CMZ 12G module tested for DDR3-2000-9-10-9-27 can be clocked at DDR3-1333-8-8-8-20 (which is what I have my TR3X module running at right now).
