Shepard-Command
Hi everyone. I recently built a new system.I installed the h100i with two fans on a coolermaster storm stryker with positive airflow(2 bottom intake,2 front intake, exhaust side fan, corsair h100i exhaust) I run the corsair fans at 1500rpm.My cpu is running at 1.3V(auto voltage)@3.8Ghz with all power saving features disabled. After 15 min of prime 95(maximum heat test) these are my results: http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/5197/24062794.jpg ^^Those temps seem a bit high to me. **Idle temps are mid 40s to 50 on the cores. Ledhead900
Seems normal, My 3820 idles at 44c sometimes but it can sit around 31 as well. Also keep in mind that thermal compounds like Arctic Silver 5 do not perform perfect instantly they require a sort of melt in time by that I mean it can take a couple hours of running the system playing some games that get the system sweaty for the compound to conform to its optimal results. 2011 socket CPU's run hot Sandy Bridge is a hot running cpu so 44c -50c idle is pretty normal, however if it is a 3770k or something like that I have no idea I have never used one. tuk
**Idle temps are mid 40s to 50 on the cores. Seems a bit high for idle, however it hard to say without knowing the CPU type? & the ambient temp?
Bryman
Voltage seems way too high try like 1.2 volts or even lower... But temps seem fine
DWreck
Temps seem okay. Yea I agree with Bryman, that Vcore is high. SB does need more the IB but still... I would go down in 0.050V increments and run Prime 95 for 30-60 mins, if it passes do it again until it fails then go up 0.50V 1 time and run it for 3-6 hours. Then if it passes you can go down in 0.010V Increments and repeat it the same way as the first time. If you really want it stable the go 12-24 hours. If you want to do it the fast way like Bryman is saying then go for 1.200V like he says, though it might need 1.220-1.250V's.
Bryman
Also if you have power savings on where it under clocks at idle you will have to play games to make sure it's stable not just prime
Shepard-Command
Well it looks like i was using an older version of hwmonitor Both idle and load temps are a little lower now: http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/5200/72695756.jpg *It's still glitched as hell though.I've got no idea what's up with that 81c temp and those crazy fan speeds. Like i said before i am running a 3930k on auto voltage at 3.8Ghz(turbo frequency) with all energy saving features disabled.I am not going to oc until i get a new psu because i am currently running a gtx 680 at 1400Mhz that draws a ton of power on an old quality 650w unit. With that said i've got some mx-4 lying around,is it worth to reset the pump or should i just leave it as it is. edit: Oh yeah i forgot ambient temps are exactly at 23.5C. tuk
ambient temps are exactly at 23.5C. considering your ambient I would say your max/load temps under prime95 are good, but your min/idle temps still look a bit high. can you change your cooling/fan profile at the low end so your idle temps don't exceed 30c *It's still glitched as hell though try using something like 'AIDA64 Extreme Edition'
Shepard-Command
Alright i reduced the vcore to 1.2V and left the rest on auto. I successfully did 20 linx runs and now i am running prime 95 to make sure it's stable. Temps are still roughly the same though: http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/8634/16518223.jpg Min are idle temps, max are during prime 95 UPDATE: Alright the lowest i can POST at 4Ghz is at -0.185/1.136Vcore I am going to run prime95 here and monitor the temps. I'll post my results in a few hours...
tuk
I think your missing the point in my previous post, take a minute and consider the following: If your load temps are good but your idle temps are high ...this can only be down to your cooling profile, If it was something else I would expect to see high temps for both idle & load. Shepard-Command
Like i said in my original post i have the radiator fans running at a fixed 1500rpm all the time. My exhaust fan runs at 100% at all times and 3/4 intake fans also run at 100%.The fourth fan is set to 1000rpm because it's very noisy.(scythe fan) Anyways i ran prime 95 for 2 hours at 1.136vcore@4Ghz and these are my temps. idle:(lowest) 39,35,37,36,37,34,39 max: 60,56,59,56,59,58,60 Load temps are good but idle temps are still a bit high. Bryman
Even though temps are the same with lower voltage its still better for it... And they are lower just a very small difference... Although it should be like 3-5C at least from 1.3 to 1.2 And also what kinda processor did you say you had? Like I have an i7 3770K it's made to last a very long time at 80C while others only about 70C if not lower and the i7 can withstand 105C (220 degrees) for short amounts of time while other processors like 90C just saying... It does matter Nice background by the way :)
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 1, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 1, 2013 Check your idle in Corsair Link SW and see if its consistent with CPUID HW monitor.
