excaka
thats what i thought, its just when i first installed it, i took the waterblock on and off a few times, not thinking it was seated, and the paste seemed to be melted already on a cool cpu. thought maybe me removing it and reinstalling it might give it negative effects down the road
Speed
Removing the heat sink and putting it back on, without completely cleaning all thermal grease off and re-applying in an approved manner, will result in voids in the interface and your CPU could easily be damaged as a result. Go to Arctic Silver's website and find the correct procedure for your particular CPU.
Ledhead900
I cleaned the block offer and applied Arctic Silver 5 prior to installing and the unit only just came out of the box but the bloody cooper base protective plastic bit kept on falling off while I was trying to position the rad and screw it down, which was the opportunity I was after to make a decision to use my own thermal paste rather than what was on the block, I was not going clean it off at first but since I already smeared it a little I decided to just take it all off and use my own which would likely have been for the better anyway I have no idea what other thermal paste temps are like other than Arctic Sliver. I have been interested in that new Arctic product the one that you need to mix parts together and it becomes super sticky though I was not willing to try that volatile stuff for the first time on expensive hardware in case I got the mixture wrong or waited too long because once its on it stays on.
