RonnieJ
Hey guys. So I have bought this new PC and one of the components is the Corsair 650TX PSU. I was told it was one of the better and silent. The thing is when the PC is running some games or have been doing some hard work I instantly get louder noise from the PSU and the noise goes through my headset. Its like a static noise. (it fades out when the PC have been idling for a couple of minutes.) I can even get the sound if I have triggered it by running som game and exits and when I then move my mouse around the noise follow my movement. May sound a bit strange but I hope you understand. I move the mouse around the the static noise gets worse. I thought it was the PSU so I had the retailer change it with a new one (did an RMA) but the new one is doing exactly the same thing. I have tried to enable vsync on my Nvidia graphic card but it didnt help. I have also tried to disable all "save power" options in the BIOS. Im lost. Is there anything I can do or should I change to another brand? If you follow this link: http://ronnie-jespersen.dk/sound.m4a you can download a sound file. The file is recording idle sound and when I launch a PC game. In the end you can clearly hear the constant change in noise. The noise goes to my headphones and its driving me crasy. striker33
Sounds like coil whine to me. At least you've narrowed it down to either your GPU or Motherboard. I had similar external sounds from the motherboard in my old rig. Only way to get rid of it would be changing the windows power saving options to balanced or power saver. RonnieJ
Sounds like coil whine to me. At least you've narrowed it down to either your GPU or Motherboard. What do you mean? I know the sound is from the power supply. I recorded the sound with my phone right next to the PSU and I have been listening closely. Do you mean that is the GPU/Motherboard that affects the PSU?
