dnzero
Hello, I built a new computer with a GS600 power supply and I'm getting that rattle/whining noise where the fan starts to spin up for a few seconds and then stops. It happens every 15-30 seconds and lasts from 1-5 seconds. I can hear it quite well from where I'm sitting (the tower is below me under the desk so the PSU is quite far). It's the loudest noise on my new tower and it's not a very pleasant sound to hear, I must say. The sound is exactly like in these videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-OjNKUuhKY I got approved for a Standard RMA #6002947, but I'm wondering if there's any way I can get it changed to another PSU of equal value. I've been reading the forums and it looks like the problem is rather common with these PSUs so I fear that the replacement unit will come in and have the same issue. I called in and talked to Tech Support but they say they don't offer anything like that, but I'm reading stories of people being able to switch theirs with another model. Is that an old policy? I wouldn't want to wait for this to come in only to have it arrive with the same problem and have to restart the whole process. Thanks in advance! When you RMA a PSU you can only get the model you send in unless it is obsolete or there were some other extenuating circumstances. Unless you bought it directly from the Corsair website , you would have to return it to your reseller for a refund and then get a different model. But you will get a brand new sealed unit in return.
