Jimbo86
Hello wonderful people on the Corsair Forums... Basically I've been building my new pc for about a year buying small pieces as and when I could afford. This year has seen the majority of it purchased. I bought my Hydro H80 somethime last year but have only been able to use it as of this weekend just gone. As I turn my pc on the fans sound like they are in panic mode like a server. I have 2 front panel silent fans that came with my case and the 2 that came with the hydro mounted on the rear of the case. I have the latest bios for my motherboard and have looked at the fan settings, changing the lowest rpm as low as it will go or changing them to silent mode but the end result is the same; one very noisey pc when it posts and then gets quieter but is still way too loud. If anyone can be of any assistance that would be very much appreciated. Thanks. Here are my specs. Mobo: Asus P8Z77-V Premium CPU: Intel i7 3770K RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16Gb (1600MHz XMP) SSD: Intel 520 Cherryville 240Gb PSU: Coolermaster Silent Pro Modular 1050W
peanutz94
That is normal. the H80 will do a brief test of the fans when you first turn on the computer.
Nec_V20
Peanutz94, no it won't. The person expressly states that he has the H80 and not the H80i, so it's bollox that "the H80 will do a brief test of the fans when you first turn on the computer". The truth of the matter is that the 120 mm fans delivered with the H80 are abysmal - they are just about better than nothing. I know, because I have an H80 and swapped the fans out for two Noctua NF-P14 FLX Vortex Control 120/140mm fans, because of the racket the fans supplied with the H80 made. I think the H80 is great, but I am not going to blame Corsair really for including dud fans. I would rather have it that way than the other way around (great fans and a really crappy water cooler). I have had my Noctua fans going full throttle now for over two years and I still can't hear them. Right enough the two Noctua fans cost me just over a third of the price of the H80 itself. But I am VERY happy with what I have had over the past two years or so. I described it back in the day that it was as if, with regard to the fans, Corsair had bought up WWII surplus parts from the Stuka and recycled them with regard to the noise. You read so many threads a day it's easy to get something wrong every know and then. But it would probably be best to have it replaced if the profiles are not reacting at all.
Nec_V20
Peanutz, no problem mate, maybe I read it a bit more closely because I have an H80 myself. No harm no foul.
