Rogretin
Hello all. I am building a new system, first timer. I ordered all the parts from newegg. I did a test build outside the case with the motherboard, ram and video card, and everything fired right up and all worked. When I put everything together in the case and tried to start it up...nothing. No power at all. Is it possible that the power supply went bad that quickly? Or could there be another reason. Thanks for your help.
Speed
I'm betting on something being different when in the case. Something not plugged in, something plugged into a wrong place, something shorting on the case, etc. These are complex systems with lots of elements to get right. I've missed things sometimes, and I'm pretty darn thorough; being a racing engineer. Just go through methodically and triple check everything, even stuff you "know" is correct. Rogretin
Thanks for the reply Speed. It being my first build, (and I had already screwed up a processor by not paying enough attention), I was triple checking everything as I went. Unfortunately,(for me), it wasn't good enough. After reading your reply, I decided to start completely from scratch. Since I knew it worked outside the box, I decided to go all the way back and start again. Took it all apart and sure enough, it worked. lol. So, when I rebuild, I will periodically start it, just to see if I can find where I went wrong. Thanks for your help. :)
