V2000 not turning on

So i got a V2000 which i have been using for about 6 months now. Everything as been good apart from the micro usb recharge cable becoming dodgy and having to get a new one. But that wasn't a big deal. However about a week ago the new micro cable started to become dodgy as well. It would recharge but it would turn off my headset from time to time if i moved the cable. Probably due to a bad connection like the previous cable. So i thought it would just be a matter of time until it became too bad and i would buy a new cable again. But yesterday when it happened and it turned off my headset and i couldn't get it on again. The headset is fully charged but when i press the power button the blue led lights up for 4 sec and i can hear the sound you hear when the headset powers up the drivers but it shuts down straight away.

Has anyone had this before and been able to fix it ?

I should still have 7 months of warranty but seeing as this is already my 3 or 4 rma headset(starting to lose count ) I'm starting to feel weird about rma it again. I know i am doing nothing wrong with my headset, it doesn't have a single scratch on it. Only reason i can think of why my headset keep breaking is that i probably use them more than the average Joe.

The Micro usb is a bit loose inside the headset usb port but is still being recognized but losing connection if moved a bit. But it can still charge the headset if it isn't moved around to much.

i have tried turning it on with the cable in still doesn't work. but headset is fully charged so it should have to be in any way.

Only thing i could still try is to completely discharge the headset but that is hard to do when i cant get is on. I could try to hold the power button for a whole day hoping the led light drains the power :D:

Note: I also noticed something else, dont know if it was there before but when i try to turn on the headset the micro usb port flashed red for a millisecond.

The flash of red is normal when you plug the micro USB in. Do you have a different micro USB cable/charger to test with to see if the port is still loose? The connector isn't supposed to be as snug as a glove, but it shouldn't be loose to the point where it won't charge when you still have the unit on your head.

The port itself isn't loose. Just the connector but like you said its normal. And it will charge but it would just stop from time to time(make the mirco usb connection sound) if i moved my head or the cable and also turn off the headset sometimes. But the last time it turned off the headset i couldn't get it on again.

If i had to make a guess i would say the bad connection of the micro usb has somehow fried something in the headset. Because the headset looks fine from the outside.

I thought the cables were only to charge the headset, not to get a connection. So how does a new cable help? The headset is fully charged the light is green. If you think a new cable will help i don't mind buying a new one but i like to know how it will fix my problem before i waste time and money.

Just to clarify my problem.

  • My headset usb port looks fine, not movement at all.

  • The male micro usb is a bit loose when plugged in but not more than it should.

  • The problem i am having is that the headset doesn't turn on. When i press the power button the led light goes on for 4 sec but after that nothing happens. No sound and the blue led doesn't flicker every couple of sec like it should when its on.

That is correct. I wanted to make sure though if the new cable actually stays in place to charge it accordingly. Since you mentioned its green though, that means the headset should be fully charged and good to go. If it doesn't come on even when you press the power button, and there is no LED activity from the headset itself to imply it stays on, go ahead and submit it for an exchange through RMA. Give me your case number and I'll approve it for you.

Thx for the help RAMGUY. Its ****ty that this will already be my 5th headset on one warranty, but because of you i haven't lost any faith in Corsair. Say what you want about Corsair but the costumer service is definitely top-notch.

Here is my case ticket.
