Bulletstorm
Hello everyone! So i got brand new tx850 v2 PSU and i already have some problems.. I understand that fan turns on under a load (if its not hot enough it should be completly steady, right? ). So I have noticed that weird noise from the psu, but only when fan idles, actually it not really idles its more like that is trying to spin but it cant (the weird noises (like some buzz or something) are 100% fan twitch related - when it spins its ok.). I dont know why, is it something wrong with thermal control? Is your tx850 or tx750 (i have noticed another thread - fan on tx is trying to spin, but OP didnt mention that weird noises I have - its really annoying..) working properly, so when its not under a load the fan doesnt twitch (is it just normally steady? ) ? Should i replace it and hope to get a better one?
peanutz94
Yes, i would go ahead and have it replaced. There was an issue with the fan controllers on some PSU's which has since been fixed. If you are still within your re-sellers time frame for returns i would start there. If they can't/won't help you then please use the link on the left to request an RMA. Actually i would suggest you RMA directly with Corsair so you do get a unit that doesn't have that issue.
Bulletstorm
Okey I will replace it, but for now with the seller.. Ok, this is some weird thing.. The PSU is brand new (should be V2, but i am sceptical as hell). Every unboxing video I have watched they got a psu in a corsair bag, but i didnt get it (just this hard paper). The bag was sealed, but i am still not convinced that i actually have V2. How the v1 looked like? Every picture i am watching on the internet have horizontal tx850 sign, but mine is put vertically. Is this v1 of the psu? I have ordered v2 and i got v1 apparently.. Do you agree? There is no v2 sign on the box, just tx850. What do you think? Ok, i have taken some pictures so you can see.. http://shrani.si/t/10/Fw/kxPlshL/060420131019.jpg http://shrani.si/t/38/Uz/1DAHjWvn/060420131020.jpg http://shrani.si/t/3U/B7/4uJvmhT4/060420131021.jpg
peanutz94
The V2 had a different part number ( CMPSU-850TXV2) yours has the newer part numbers so would be the latest version. SKU# CP-9020043-NA http://www.corsair.com/us/power-supply-units/tx-series-power-supply-units/tx-series-tx850-80-plus-bronze-certified-850-watt-high-performance-power-supply.html
Bulletstorm
Thank you very much! I have also looked on the corsair offical website and there is my model.. So about this fan twitch.. I thought they repaired that :=) And it seems that it occurs just on some psus, so its not a serial problem. Anyhow how it looks that it comes and goes (fan twitch), so i will try to replace it (thank god i save all boxes and stuff :D). Btw if the company that sold me the psu dont want to replace it i hope the corsair will.. Btw whats the diffrence between advanced rma and just rma? Thanks a lot! Btw. too bad they stopped putting psus in corsair bags, they are awesome and they could be easily used somewhere :=)

Unboxing my AX1200i was an unexpected enjoyment. The packaging design is superb. What an experience! Now, they've stopped doing this??? NnnnOOOOooooo! peanutz94
. Btw whats the diffrence between advanced rma and just rma? An Advanced RMA is where they will send you a new PSU before you need to send in the old one. This way you have little to n downtime. Normal RMA will take somewhere around 7-10 business days to complete.
striker33
Had exactly the same problem with a TX650w. It happens to quite a few people. Unfortunately all Corsair supplies went dead to Amazon UK right after I ordered, so I had to get refunded. Ended up paying £20 more for a Seasonic G series Gold PSU, and its a lot more audible when idle (fan doesnt stop, unlike the silent corsair ones). It also has some strange ticking noise from the fan. Needless to say, even if you end up with 5 faulty corsair psus in a row, its worth trying for a good one. I'll be selling the seasonic once the tx series is back in stock.
