H100i - Can the fans be DYNAMICALLY controlled?

Hi everyone,

I installed my H100i last night, and found two things about it that I would like to try and understand (three, if you count I had to cut my CM690 II case to make it fit :)):

1. There is a constant hard drive "clicking" sound. I have read that this is due to the temperature polling of the software, yet this even happens after the software is disabled. I have read that the new Corsair Link software will fix this, will install this evening and try.

2. My fans were on max speed when I got them, and it sounded like a vacuum cleaner. I then turned them down to quiet, and they are now perfect, love it. The thing is though, I do not find a "dynamic" setting, where the fans will automatically spin slower or faster, based on the CPU temp? Am I missing something? Will my fans automatically speed up under the "quiet" setting if my CPU gets too hot, or what? This is a bit confusing in the software.

Something like a Dynamic setting with a place to specify your ideal temp would be perfect, like if I enter 50 degrees Celsius, it will try and keep the temp under this, will the lowest possible fan speed to keep the system at the correct temp while also keeping the fan noise down to a minimum... you know, like stock coolers do?

Am I missing something?

First question is what kind of fans came with it? If they are 3 pin fans then please submit an RMA for your cooler and ask for the new 4 pin PWM fan to get rid of the clicking noise.

But yes, your fan will speed up as temps rise automatically when needed. You can also create custom profiles within the CSLink software if the default profiles aren't what you want.

I got the 3-pin fans. The problem is, I live in South Africa, and sending an RMA to the supplier would probably get me another unit from the shelf also with 3 pins.

After installing the latest software though, the clicking went away, as this was coming from the hard drive in the first place.

When set on Quiet mode, the fans do not seem to speed up. I was running prime while on Quiet mode, and the fans stayed at the same speed and the CPU went up to 78 degrees.

I then chose a Custom profile, and entered temp thresholds and fan speeds, and played around with this for a while, and it achieved what I was looking for. Just thought that there would be an easier option, like "target CPU temperature" and the software would do the rest intelligently.

Thanks for your reply. My Cooler is now working exactly as I wanted it to!

You would not be required to send anything back to your supplier. You just use the link on the left to request an RMA for the cooler and explain that you need the 4 pin PWM fans for your cooler. Corsair will send them to you free of charge no matter where you live.
