Torment74
I'm new to this forum so be gentle and a big hello to everyone (-: A few days ago my PC stopped turning on (no lights or fans or anything) after being off over night. If I press the power button I get nothing but if I press it dozens of times or leave it 10 mins it springs into life and then for the rest of the day it works fine and can be shut down and ON again no problems until its left over night again and then the same problem. I'm assuming its losing its charge over a long period of time and will only power on after its had chance to take on more juice....just a theory. System Specs MSI Z77A-G45 motherboard (latest BIOS) (the battery seems fine too) Sapphire 7950 Vapor-X (overclocked to 1050 core and 1300 mem) Intel i5 3570K 3.4 (overclocked to 4.4) Corsair AX650 PSU 8gb Corsair Vengeance ram. 256 GB M4 SSD Windows 7 (64bit) At first I thought it may be the power button on my Phantom 410 as its a bit dodgy but I checked the pins on the mainboard with a screwdriver and its fine. My only other two thoughts are either its bad Caps on the mainboard or a dodgy 5v rail on PSU but that seems unlikely. Any help would be most welcome
Speed
Sounds heat related. Try getting a small reflector flood and point it into the PSU rear vents overnight to keep it warm. Don't get it so close as to melt anything inside. Just keep it from cooling off. See if it boots in the morning.
Torment74
Thanks for your reply. I got up this morning and timed the PC coming on after pressing the power switch and it was 8 minutes...what the heck is going on. Are you saying its too cold in the morning? This is build a really good quality build and I have had some rubbisg pc's in the past that never did this!!!!!!!
Speed
C'mon. I'm not saying it's normal. I'm suggesting that you do something logical to test it to determine where the problem is. The machine operates above room temperature and is happy doing that. If you maintain some fraction of that environment overnight, instead of letting it go stone cold, it may tell you something. peanutz94
Have it replaced! There have been a few other PSu's with the same symptoms. Not saying it's a "known" issue but it's happened before. Not heat related. Pretty sure it's the PSU not sensing enough of a load to start or having a low PG value.

Torment74
Ok...when i come to turn my PC on in the morning I press power button and get nothing.....but if I turn the PSU off then on again (Using switch on back of PSU) hey presto it starts every time.....I might be able to live with this as sending PSU off to america could take weeks and weeks. Just have it replaced. Most of them that do this end up just quitting. And depending on where you live you wouldn't have to send it to the US. There are three RMA' hubs world wide and you would be instructed to send it to the one closest to you. You could even ask for an advanced replacement and have a new PSU in a few days or so. Normal RMA's even across seas take only between 7-10 business days or so total turn around time. So your not looking at weeks upon weeks.

Heh, so the PSU needs a reboot. Yeah, just get it replaced.
