tigerhawkvok
I'm running Windows 8, x64 and since installing my Corsair Force GS I've noticed that programs will intermittently hang for about a minute then suddenly start responding. What I've read elsewhere suggests that the 5.03 firmware update on this forum can resolve the issue; however, my board (Tyan S2927) does not support ACHI and the firmware update appears to not recognize my drive at all (presumably due to this). http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=110257 suggests that the ACHI part is the reason the firmware updater may not function. I'd love any clever workarounds -- the only thing I can think of at the moment is the process of finding a friend with a motherboard that supports AHCI, then booting to my drive from there, then trying again! Toasted
I think the newer SSDs need AHCI enabled as some users have resolved their hanging, slow drive by enabling AHCI instead of IDE mode. Yes, find a friend who has a motherboard that supports AHCI and test the drive.
Nec_V20
You could get a separate SATA PCIe controller card. This would enable you to use AHCI with your SSD. They are not all that expensive, a good one with two SATA III ports will only set you back about $30.
