gkvarga
Can someone please explain to me how to play MKV files on an Ipad 3? What media player should I use? Today I use AV Media Player that plays pretty much all file types if they are on the Ipad itself. When I try to load an MKV through the Voyager air app I get a "file too big" error. Is playing MKV even possible? Today I am converting all my media files to MP4, which is not a huge problem but I was under the impression the Voyager Air iOS app can play many file types through a different media player other than the default Ipad video player. Yellowbeard
A reviewer for Voyager Air @ Gadget Review stated that he likes Good Player for iPods/iPads. You'll need to verify for yourself if it plays your specific .mkv files.
Yellowbeard
I checked with one of the lab guys and he's had good success with Moliplayer 2.0 also. However, it does not offer the streaming capabilities of Good Player that the reviewer noted in the review I linked for you. This means that the device will need to download the .mkv file and play it locally as opposed to streaming it from the Voyager Air. Unfortunately, this is a "feature" of iOS which may influence your choice of players. Moliplayer 2.0 is free, Good Player is not. From the linked review at Gadget Review The Corsair-born app looks the same across all OS. It’s intuitive and very straightforward. I applaud the ease of use but Seagate offered a snazzier design and interface. But it’s a rather moot point for serious media munchers. If you want to stream media that uses other codecs and file formats such .avi, mkv, wmv and many others then a different playback app is needed. A great one is GoodPlayer; it will easily play a variety of formats including VI, Xvid, Divx, DAT, VOB, FLV, WMV , MKV, MP4, RM,RMVB, HTTP,HTTPS, FTP, RTSP, MMS, SFTP, SMB, MMSH, MMST ,RTP, UPnP and UDP. gkvarga
Thanks for the feedback. Reading the reviews for Goodplayer indicates that it is a horrible app, so I wont be purchasing that. I think i will wait for perhaps developers to support streaming from the Voyager Air. I hope that as this device gets more popular, other developers can support streaming. Any advice on a streaming media ios app known to work other than Goodplayer would be appreciated.

Yellowbeard
Our lead software engineer replied to my query about this post. He went out and bought a Note II and tried to duplicate your issue. The app works normally for him on his Note II and he sees no issues. He asked me to get some additional information from you so that we can look into this since this is a very popular phone. Can you ask the guy who reported issue in our forum for more information? 1. What OS is he running on his problematic Notes II, official or aftermarket? 2. Screen capture of phone or device information; 3. Screen capture of our App when issue happens; If you can provide this information, we would really appreciate it. I will send you my email address in a PM. Thanks! ::pirate::
gkvarga
Hi Yellowbeard. I think there is some confusion, the issue I am having is with the iPad running iOS 6.1.3. Not with the Samsung Note II. Perhaps your reply was intended for someone else? update: i see it is intended for another post in this forum. Thanks.
