Rylo
Hello. I've got an H100i and I recently formatted my HD. I never installed CorsairLink and I found that my temps at load seemed to be roughly the same as when CorsairLink had been installed previously. I have a closed case, so the LED is irrelevant to me. Is there any inherent thermal benefit to using the CorsairLink software? I'd rather not install drivers/services that offer no actual system benefit if I can help it. Thanks. Bryman
No but you can change fan speeds with corsair link which would lower temps but doesn't do it automatically
Speed
Mine does it automatically but I run CorsairLINK2, set up a good profile for fan speed according to temperature and then just don't run CorsairLINK2 after that. The current profile is stored on the water block and the CorsairLINK_HardwareMonitor runs all by itself at Windows start to monitor the temperatures. Yes, but my question is whether having installed it in the first place actually improves temperatures. Adjusting fan speeds made a ~2 degrees Celsius difference for me (going from Quiet to Balanced), but that was all. I just didn't know if the pump itself was affected. Speed
Well, it seems that you're not understanding the purpose of the SW -- and that's why you're asking the question. Running the SW doesn't magically make things cooler. It can't. The energy exchange is the energy exchange. The SW doesn't change the laws of physics or make anything more efficient in that regard. It controls the fans. If changing fan speeds on the cooler to lessen the dB level when the machine is not under load isn't important to you, then, no you don't have to run it. The stock profiles provided are a starting point. They aren't the be-all, end-all. Systems are different. People are different. The SW allows you to develop a fan speed to temperature profile that is specific to you and your system. Once you have done the testing and made refinements, you don't have to run the SW any longer and can enjoy a quiet, cool computing experience. peanutz94
I just didn't know if the pump itself was affected. No, pump speed stays onstant. The cooling is controled by the speed of the fans. The faster your fans run the cooler your CPU will run.. But as Speed pointed out just installing the SW can't just magically effect temps.
