my system has shutdown on me 5 times so far

i built her about a week ago

when starting her up and trying to go to bios

i get a screen from asus z77v pro mobo saying

power supply surges detected during the previous power on .Asus anti-surge was triggered to protect system from unstable power supply unit"

so is it definitely the power supply or could it be the motherboard?

this is a first build so i dont know much about this

wondering if i should trust the bios telling me this

i mean sure i think its the PSU

anyway

how do i and should i RMA her?

will i have to pay shipping?

I live in Canada by the way, is there a number i can call

because i cant call outside canada without having to pay, ill get a calling card if i have to, just wondering

Well, I have a couple of P8Z77-V Pro/Thunderbolts running on Antec True Control 2.0 PSUs and one of them shuts down infrequently due to a detected spike. My P9X79 Deluxe on the AX1200i hasn't given any trouble. So, I'm 2 for 3. They all run on a pair of APC Smart-UPS 1500s, so the power they are all getting is clean. Still, that one box faults from time to time. Unsure why at this point. I'll just replace the PSU if it continues, as the Antecs are a bit long in the tooth. Time for more current (pun intended) technology. But, come to think of it, the board that shuts down had a problem today while refining OC settings that worked on the twin. Even returning to bone stock, it wouldn't boot into Windows for a while. Wasn't doing anything extreme; these are workstations, so OC is conservative--more on the side of lowering the low load voltages than pushing the limits.

What are the voltages being reported for the 12v,5v, and 3.3v rails? We have seen a couple of these ASUS MB reporting "false" spikes and indicating a bad or unstable powersupply when there is no issue at at all.
