SSDMonts Posted March 31, 2013 Share Posted March 31, 2013 ...Will I notice a real-world seat-of-the-pants performance difference by upgrading to one of the newer top-of-the-line Corsair 240 GB SSD's? My desktop is a x-79 Win7-64 with the F180. If a noticeable performance difference would be obtained, I could then use the F180 in my laptop (which currently has a slow HHD). If I would not gain an obvious performance increase, I would tend to leave well enough alone with the desktop, and just place the new SSD in the laptop. What would you guys do? richardd43 Posted April 1, 2013 Share Posted April 1, 2013 Unless you are going to SATA 3 from a SATA 2 drive you will not notice much difference. If the drive is SATA 2 I would put it in the Laptop and get the new 240G drive for your PC. I have 2 of the drives and have had great luck with them. You will see a HUGE difference in the laptop with the SSD in it. (Most all laptops are sata 2 so would not purchase a sata 3 for it) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

My biggest question is if there have been significant performance increases from the original 2011 era F120 Sata 3 drives compared to the new current top-of-the-line Corairs of today? The Corsair Force 3 GS is certainly faster than the standard Force 3, which is faster again than the old Force F120 ... but I'd certainly have difficulty telling which was which in a blind test.
