Harold
I have an H80i cooler, 1.05 firmware and Corsair Link 2.3.4816 software. Will Corsair Link control the Corsair sp120 performance fans with the 3 pin plug. Thanks.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 2, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 2, 2013 I am sorry but the SP120s are not optimized for Corsair Link. They will run at max speed and not be able to slow them dowm.
Harold
Thank you Ram Guy, Just to get the story right, will any other PWM fan like the Noctua NF-F12 work with Corsair Link, or only the fans that came with the cooler? My stock fans are Okay, but they are noisy when I run them at max RPM.
Speed
A PWM fan is a PWM fan. They'll respond just like any other. When they say that "non-Corsair fans aren't supported" it means: They haven't been testedThey won't help you solve problems that you may encounterYour warranty may be in jeopardy, due to 1 and

Can I ask why they aren't optimized to work with Corsair Link considering most other pieces of hardware are? Or is it just the Quiet version of the SP120's that aren't because of their fixed speed? The SP series are only 3 pin fans and why they won't work with the Hseries coolers. There is a new version of the SP fans that ARE PWM specifically for them but the "normal SP's are 3 pin connections. http://www.corsair.com/us/cpu-cooling-kits/air-series-fans/air-series-sp120-high-performance-edition-high-static-pressure-120mm-fan.html These are the replacement PWM SP which are a completely different part and part number. http://www.corsair.com/us/parts/cooling-parts/hydro-series-h80i-h100i-sp120l-2700-rpm-replacement-fan.html 2) In fact Corsair HAS been working with users to add support for non-corsair fans. Please read through the LINK forums. 3 Using Non Corsair fans will NOT void your warranty as long as they do not exceed the voltage requirements for the fan headers. Friction
3 pin fans will work with the H series coolers! The H100i comes with 2 fans that only have a 3 pin header.
Speed
Sorry Speed, this isn't correct. The SP series are only 3 pin fans and why they won't work with the Hseries coolers. The 3-pin SP fans that I have work. Please read through the LINK forums. I read through the LINK forums every day, thank you. Geez.
peanutz94
3 pin fans will work with the H series coolers! The H100i comes with 2 fans that only have a 3 pin header. Coorrect. But the 3 pin fans are known to cause issues with the pumps. And that includes the stock fans. Most other non corsair 3 pin fans including the the SP series were not known to work with them. They would often run at 100% all the time despite what profile was used.
