Looks like it has degraded since the first round of testing. I was unable to get a fail with a single module before What do you guys think? Is the module just inconsistently working or failing? Has it finally just degraded to the point where it is always failing now? What do you guys think? Bad memory, IMC or mobo? Thanks, Bryan
peanutz94
They aren't that old to really suffer from degradation. I have Dominator sticks almost five years old and still running as strong as day one. And since you have both sticks failing when used individually i would tend to lean towards the board being bad. But then again I have seen stranger things happen! But just to rule out the memory I would replace the kit , but it sounds more like MB failure to me. So if you get another set that does the same thing then you have your answer. If you want to replace them then just use the link on the left to request an RMA. Have edited the post for more clarity and fixed a whoopsie. The rig is new as of boxing day. I couldn't get single stick errors at all after testing over a few days the first time around. Finally I am getting reproducible errors of dimm 2. The first time around errors showed up sometimes only once in 10 or 20 passes. Now the errors are multiple per pass and is what I meant by degradation as if the problem is worsening.
peanutz94
I really think this is board related, but i think it would be best to replace the memory to be sure. That would be the only way to really trouble shoot the issue. Or if you could borrow a friends memory to see if the issue follows the memory or not. Why are you thinking it is board related might I ask?
peanutz94
In your first round of testing you had the latest BIOS and had sticks pass. After switching BIOS's then you get one stick to fail consistently. So that means there is something that could be BIOS related. First round with latest BIOS they pass Tested Single sticks in all slots (Repeated setting changes) - Passed (10+) Gave up came to conclusion it may be a problem with the IMC or Mobo Switched to secondary older bios - Failed with very high frequency of errors Tested Dimm 1 in all slots (Repeated setting changes) - Consistently Failing Tested dimm 2 in all slots (Repeated setting changes) - Consistently Passing To me it still looks suspect. But without having another set of memory to test with it's hard to rule out one or the other.

Does the errors at one one small area of addresses seem strange?
peanutz94
Not really. But like i said before it would be best to replace the memory first and then go from there. If you get a new kit that does the same thin you have your answer. I hope a new set will fix it for you
parawizard
So got the new RAM kit. Both dimms fail in all slots it seems. Errors vary but always show up in the random number tests in Memtest86+ 4.20 and 5.00RC1. Have two different motherboards coming today so I can see it is a mobo problem. Would like to mention that other than the memtest errors there are no longer any stability issues since my replacement graphics card came in either. Seems really really strange. Sneaking suspicion that it may be the memory controller on my i7 3930K :(:
