Martin Palmieri
Hi guys I'm gonna be building a new rig in a month or so. This is going to be used to virtualize several boxes I have at home. Meaning, it's not going to be a gaming rig. The motherboard will be a ASUS P8Q77-M2 and the CPU an Intel Core i7 3770. I'm planning on getting 32 GB RAM - max this motherboard supports. My question is: What would be the best memory for this motherboard/processor? My main focus in in stability - performance too  I've read somewhere that DDR3 1600 sometimes can be a problem with Ivy Bridge, but somewhere else that this speed is the preferred for this chipset. So, I'm in doubt. Many thanks Martin

My main focus in in stability - performance too I've read somewhere that DDR3 1600 sometimes can be a problem with Ivy Bridge, but somewhere else that this speed is the preferred for this chipset. So, I'm in doubt. I have not heard a word about Ivybridgehaving an issue with1600mhz memory . And i'm here ten times a day. They support it natively and most of them will be able to run up to 2133mhz memory pretty easily. The worst I have heard is that the memory is not set to 1600mhz when first installed. But thats normal. All memory will default to the lowest speed when first installed to ensure a successful first BOOT. If your not looking to overclock the memory then I would suggest any of the Vengeance 32 gig quad or dual channel 1600mhz kits. They are both the same memory just packaged differently. Or you could also use the Dominator or Dominator Platinums . So basically it's what is going to fit your budget.
