vectisitch
ok, i think one of my force 3 120gb's has died on me. it keeps showing as error occured (0) in the bios when it loads the array. i formatted and redid it but the install kept stalling. i have now reinstalled using 2 other ssd's and it's ok again so one drive must have been failing. i have asked for an rma but as i bought them both specifically for a raid array the other drive is no good to me without the bad one so will corsair replace both if i send both back? Synthohol
no need to send both, just the failed one. when you get the replacement just rebuild the RAID. everything is lost anyway once the drive fails so just make sure the firmware is the same on both drives before creating the array. vectisitch
they both have the same firmware 5.03 and have run flawlessly till this. now i have taken both drives out now so don't know which one is faulty. the problem was that i came home one day and i had no sound so i uninstalled the soundcard in device manager and when i tried to reinstall it i had a blue screen with the code fc i think, then it refused to restart so i used parted magic to erase and reinstall. broke the array and set it up again and the pc would freeze when reinstalling windows or get partway through installing updates. then one disk was showing as error occured (0) in the array in bios but windows would still start up. what software can i use to test the dsiks one at a time? vectisitch
strange. i connected one of the drives and tried hd tune pro and it returned bad sectors. i tried the other drive and it just locked up my pc?????
Synthohol
personally i would not use HD tune as its not a harddrive. second, try parted magic and erase both drives and their MBR and start from scratch unless you want to RMA the suspicious drive. either way the SSD is a flash device, id use another program specifically for SSDs not for harddrives. vectisitch
can you suggest a program that will show up any faults in the drive that i can use for an ssd? also i don't know which drive is the dodgy one, and if i send only one drive they might send an alternative as the force 3 is discontinued i think, so i won't be able to rebuild my raid array
