brad10sc
So I purchased a H100i last week and have installed the newest Corsair Link software. The pump also came with the newest 1.0.5 firmware. What I have gathered is that I, too, am having my pump (the part that is not the water block) make a buzzing noise when the RPM's on my fan reach around 1000, getting louder if I go above that. This occurs especially if I am on one of the preset settings like Quiet Balanced or Performance at any RPM speed of my fans. However, the buzzing subsides drastically for < 900 rpm if I set both fans on a Custom curve. But as soon as I switch back to a preset, the buzzing comes back. I am rather disappointed in this buzzing noise, as I paid quite a bit to try and have liquid cooling and a quieter machine... Is corsair still working on another firmware update? Ram Guy? sinnedone
Did your unit come with 3 pin or 4 pin fans? If you have the 3 ppin then you need to submit an rma about the fans and Corsair will mail you replacement 4 pin pwm fans to fix this problem. brad10sc
They are 4 pin fans, as are the ones I am actually using. I am using these fans, as the stock ones are very loud: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835553006 The noise only occurs also when the fans are plugged into the water block. I unplug them, the noise subsides completely.
sinnedone
So with the original sp120L 4 pin pwm fans and the cougar pwm fans the noise is till there or only with the cougars?
brad10sc
I'm pretty sure with both but I will double check. If it is both, then what?
sinnedone
The thing is Corsair only guarantees the "included" fans to work correctly. Some have had problems with certain types of fans while others do not. If your on the latest firmware/software combo then the stock SP120L 4 pin pwm fans should not have an issue. If you install the original 4 pin pwm fans and the buzzing is still there could be a problem with your unit(H100i). If the original pwm fans work correctly with no noise then the cougar fans might not be compatible.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 28, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 28, 2013 I'm pretty sure with both but I will double check. If it is both, then what? If both the stock fans and the after market ones produces the same noise and they are loud, then it must be an issue with the pump head itself. If this is the case, my suggestion is you get the unit replaced via RMA process.
IceColdCPU
I use a push/pull set up with the corsair 4pins pushing with cougar fans pulling. At low RPM, one cougar fan has a grinding noise and one has a high pitched whine. Both issues go away once the fans spin up but since my computer is rarely stressed, the noise is there most of the time. I've tried plugging the cougar fans into each of the fan channels on the H100i with the same results while the provided corsair fans are near silent. The cougar fans are silent when plugged into mother board headers so I know they're OK. There is something in the PWM signal from the H100i that the cougar fans don't like. I've searched through the forums to find similar post like mine but haven't found any. Your issue is the nearest to mine. I'd happily buy two fans to replace the cougars to get this thing working like it's supposed to but the SP120L PWM fans are never in stock.
