AX1200i stuck at 100% fan speed?

Hello everyone,

Yesterday I installed my AX1200i, connected the Corsair USB module to my PC's motherboard, installed the Link software, and now my PSU fan is stuck at what I'm guessing is 100%. I heard this loud "whooshing" of air from a fan in my PC, and I didn't know where it was coming from, so I routinely stopped all the fans in my case with a paperclip until I found that the AX1200i was making all the noise. I can't set the fan speed in the Link software. I've tried shutting down, disconnecting the dongle from the motherboard, and rebooting, and the fan stays at the same speed. It's really annoying. :(

Fan speed: 1860RPM

AX1200i temp: 27.4C

Link version: 2.3.4816

Link USB Dongle version: 0.9

OS: Windows 8 64-bit

I mean, its not that it spins up to max when I'm playing a game, the problem is that it is ALWAYS at max speed, and I don't know how to turn it down so I can enjoy some peace and quiet. :(

You've mentioned that you are not able to control the fan mode in the SW? You click on the AX1200i icon under System tab, a Config panel pops up on the left, then select Default mode under Mode. That didn't work?

Right. Default mode doesn't change fan speed, and setting a fixed speed of 40-ish% doesn't change fan speed either. It's just running at 1860-1880RPM, no matter what. I've unplugged and replugged the USB device from my motherboard a few times, have swapped it with another USB header a few times, and have restarted the service and quit/restarted the application several times. It just keeps going.

EDIT: Like, seriously, if you have a non-pretty development app that can set the fan speed in Windows 8 more reliably than Link, that'd be awesome.

EDIT2: In the information pane for the fan, it says Connected: unknown, Maximum: 1880, Type: unknown.

  • 1 month later...

Just reply to post here first because with just a RMA nobody knows it...

So same problem, 1840 RPM fan speed with just 100W off charge....ask 2 days ago for help (no reply*) ask again (no reply*) for RMA, rma accepted but must pay shipping costs for an DOA product.

Nice

As I check my PSU I deconnect the fan conncection from my H100i (the inside connector broke and came with the rest off cable). Ok can use the second one but will use the pwm monitoring from motherboard (this running well ALSO with windows 8)

Nice

Last but not least, purchase also a 800D case. No inside usb 3.0 adaptator (front cable must be routed outside the cabinet hem :) )and OOO noooooooo just see that the possibility to add more than 3 sli without modding at this 300 bucks case is not possible

Nice

My good I purchase vengeance RAM .....

I am sorry about that but I am not clear on the issue.

The fan is running at full speed all the time is that the issue? If so and if the item is less than thirty days old I would try the reseller or call our customer service by phone and let them know and request pre-paid shipping.

But this cannot be done on the forum it can only be done over the phone with our customer service.

Have you submitted an ticket regarding this issue? If you have a ticket #, post it there and I will try to let them know that you would like to set up an express RMA for your PSU.
