murderklok
I've set my sample rate to 24bit/96000Hz but why not set it to 32bit/96000Hz?
johnmedgla
The bit depth of audio controls its dynamic range - essentially the possible variations of 'loudness' the signal can differentiate. At 24bits, the range extends from completely inaudible to well beyond the level necessary to cause ear injury. In short, unless you're doing something involving extremely complicated signal processing (such as trying to isolate instruments in a symphony recording using very specialised equipment) there's no benefit (note - not just practical benefit, but conceivable benefit) to playback at anything much beyong 20bits. 24bits is already supreme overkill for any scenario which doesn't end in actual deafness.
