Q I
I gave the M65 a chance, but I'm sorry to say I don't like it. I just can't hold it the way I prefer to hold a mouse because the right side has a cut away to expose the aluminium. It does look nice, but the lack of grip at that area means my pinky is resting on the edge of the cut out and it isn't comfortable. I should say that I don't have small hands or anything, in fact I'm very close to average. I guess the problem is that I use a grip style that is pure finger tip, but I can't believe I'm the only person who finds that it doesn't quite work with the M65. So, while I'm moving on to the next thing from the M65, I accept that it's just a personal preference issue and I won't rule out Corsair mice in future. With that in mind I'd like to suggest the things I'd like to see in a new gaming mouse should Corsair be considering broadening the range. #1 - make a smaller gaming mouse! I don't know if small mice are somehow thought of as inferior? but it seems like most of the better quality, better featured mice are focused on palm grips or above average size hands. Going by size and shape alone, I think the most comfortable mice for finger tip are actually less than 100mm long by 60mm wide, as well as tapered at the back so that it's easy to hold with pinky and thumb and not have the palm touching at all. #2 - include a few more buttons, but with action in mind rather than MMO. I can think of a couple of mice from the biggest brand that have some good features to illustrate. The first is their big wireless mouse that has an interesting 4 side button cluster with some neat looking small buttons down the left side of the main left click, and a smaller optical mouse that has a couple of extra small buttons each side of the main left and right click. That small one might be close to what I'm thinking of if it actually had some side buttons as well. If you add in the 'sniper' button, a couple of buttons behind the scroll wheel, maybe a side scroll as well I think it could be possible to get 14-16 buttons in reachable places that won't interfere with the primary action. I know some of the hardcore FPS purists may shudder at the thought of so many buttons, but there are already good 3 button mice available for those guys. #3 - an optical sensor would be nice, especially now that they seem to be available in crazy 6000+ DPI which should surely be enough to satisfy anyone, yet avoid some of the little issues that plague lasers. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 25, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 25, 2013 Thanks for the feedback. When criticism is provided in a detailed manner like this, it helps to understand what people would like to see and we can take it into consideration for future products. Q I
Thank you for the reply RAM GUY. I actually realised that there is something that might benefit from some elaboration. the most comfortable mice for finger tip are actually less than 100mm long by 60mm wide, as well as tapered at the back so that it's easy to hold with pinky and thumb and not have the palm touching at all.a smaller optical mouse that has a couple of extra small buttons each side of the main left and right click. I realised after posting earlier that actually there is sometimes a problem with small mice in that the front is tapered and narrowed. That can make it difficult to comfortably rest the index, middle and ring finger across the left click, scroll wheel and right click. I suggested approximately 60mm as the primary width at point where the mouse is held. However: in order to accomdate extra top buttons down either side of left and right click, I guess it would be necessary to flare the side walls outward toward the top of the mouse to gain some extra width. (This might be a sensible approach in any case as it might enable larger hands to use a smaller mouse.)
