poohbear
Hello, i updated my Force GT 120gb SSD last year when i first got it to v5.2. I'm now trying to update it to v5.3, but this time around the Corsair Firmware Update Tool (v1.1) is simply not detecting my SSD. I got the tool from the link yellowbeard posted in his sticky. I ran it as an administrator, fresh restart, still it doesn't detect it. I've always had AHCI enabled, using latest intel drivers. I never had any problem updating to v5.2 last year. What am i doing wrong this time around? Any reason for this? Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Conners
You might try going to device manager then under IDE ATA/ATAPI controller and right click on the Intel driver and choose Update driver software. Click browse my computer then let me pick from a list of drivers and select Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller. Reboot and see if the updater recognizes the drive. G/L I suspect it has to do with the iRST installation driver for the SATA controller. poohbear
thanks but it already has that driver displayed, i installed the official Intel drivers from day 1 and my computer has always been AHCI (i ensured it was enabled in BIOS). Any other ideas?
Conners
Are you saying you have the Intel AHCI controller installed or the standard AHCI 1.0 controller. If you have the Intel installed I want to install the Standard AHCI and try it.
poohbear
I have the intel ones installed. How would i go about uninstalling them? i read performance is dismal without them. :( i also had them installed when i upgraded to the latest firmware, they never seemed to effect detection, but i understand how that can change. Is it as simple as going into device manager and, rightclicking on Intel AHCI and choosing uninstall?
Conners
I explained it in post #2. The performance on my Force GT is basically the same. I too had the Intel drivers installed but for some reason the Intel ones and the updater doesn't see the SSD.
poohbear
ah i see. Ok thanks. I think i'll just pass on this firmware update, is it necessary? does it improve TRIM efficiency that much?
