BigDaddyShane
Hello thanks for taking the time to read this. This is my first PC build and everything seems to be working fine but two things seem to be a problem. I have my H100 installed in a Corsair 500r case with the radiator in the top and the fans pushing from below in the case set up as exhaust obviously. This configuration seemed to make the most sense. I have an i5 3570K cpu The concern/problem seems to be two things 1) The Core temp is 38-39c when idle. It is not overclocked. This seemed to be a little high to me.. as it seems as if I was getting a slightly lower temp with the stock fan cooler. I am pretty sure its installer properly.. Is this in the normal range? I followed the directions as far as attaching it to the Cpu.. should I remove and reinstall with some Artic Silver ( i have a small tube ) 2) When I change the fans speed profiles, the fans never change speed. I understand that the fans respond to the temperature of the liquid but I expected that there would be some difference in fan speed when I change from one profile to the next. I bought this H100 sometime last year and didnt get around to installing it until a few days ago.. Are these things I am seeing normal or should I set up an RMA ?? Thank you very much for your responses..
wytnyt
your idle temps are fair but could be lower, you can check the thermal paste to see how well it seated, just make sure to clean and use new tim.its load temps that really matter.your fans will only speed up according to temps.using the 3 profiles you should notice a difference tho in fan speed are you using stock fans? wytnyt
Yes I am using the stock fans but I notice no change in speed whatsoever when I change profiles. whats the best way to clean the cpu without damaging it ? just use alcohol you dont notice a change when you press the profile button? run a stress test and see if they go up and see what your temps are here are the profile fan speeds http://www.corsair.com/media/cms/Blog/H100_buildlog/profile_chart.jpg

wytnyt
Just checked mine on stock clock 29 to 31c with 22c ambient temp. Just try re apply some thermal paste I used x4 hope this is of some help try this to see if it gets your profiles to working if you push the profile button on the top of the cooling unit and the indicator lights DO NOT change, you may try one of two steps: • You can reset the firmware on the unit, which in many cases will solve the problem, or • You can contact Corsair customer service and arrange for an advance replacement (credit card required) of your unit. To reset the firmware, use the following procedure: 1. While the computer is running, hold down the profile button for approximately five seconds 2. Wait one minute, while the unit continues to run 3. Shut down your computer 4. Press and hold the profile button for five seconds while turning on the power to your computer. If resetting the firmware does not fix the issue, or if the issue re-occurs, please contact us to start a support case. Begin this process using the RMA Link that is on the left sidebar of every forum page.
BigDaddyShane
On my H100 the lights do change.. just the fan speed doesnt increase at all when I change profiles. The only time I hear in increase in speed is when I turn the PC on which I understand is normal.
