Tyne
Hello, The replacement TX750 that I received under RMA (#5679408) has a problem that several people seem to have been experiencing with this PSU: When the fan tries to spin up from idle, it can't seem to do so and instead just twitches back and forth (moving about 2 or 3 mm) and beeps like it's trying to send a message in Morse code. Here's a video that I just took to demonstrate the noise: At 0:00, the fan is idle. At 0:08, I start up a 3D game (Legend of Grimrock) and the fan persistently tries (and fails) to spin up, beeping all the while. At 0:25, I exit the game and the fan stops making the noise, having returned to idle. I'm 100% certain that the beeping noise is coming from the fan, and it's clearly audible (and annoying!) even when my computer case is fully closed up. Dreamfall recently posted a great analysis of what seems to be causing the problem, and from reading the experiences of other users, it seems like my replacement PSU came from a bad batch. Given that I just spent the past 3 weeks with no PSU (and hence no computer) waiting for my first RMA attempt to complete, I'm not really relishing the thought of waiting for another 3 weeks to get this sorted out. Even worse, it seems likely from the other threads that any new TX750 that I receive will have exactly the same problem. What can be done? - Tyne
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 28, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 28, 2013 Thank you for providing the video. I've contacted our customer service and have passed this info along. They will contact you shortly and arrange another replacement. Besides from that noise? Is the system stable when you put it under stress?
Tyne
Hi RAM GUY, Thanks very much for your quick action on this. My second replacement unit (another TX750) came today, but unfortunately it exhibits exactly the same noise problem when the fan is trying to spin up. So, while I'm super impressed that a replacement came so quickly, I'm kind of disappointed that it's also acting up. In case it's helpful for you to know, I noticed that both of my replacements came from the same lot: #12417605. What's our next step? My RMA numbers thus far have been #5679408 (first) and #1289679 (second). - Tyne P.S.: To answer your earlier question, my first replacement does seem to be stable under stress - I haven't had a chance to stress the second one yet. Gwadj
I have exactly this same noise problem with my TX750M. It is already replaced once, but this new one is also making same fan noise. (RMA 5663944) I'm really disappointed to this product. My computer is made to be silent in living room and this fan "morse coding" noise really disturbs when watching movies. :(: I also want to know what to do next. Tyne
Here's an update from my end: After a week of not getting any response here, I decided to phone Customer Service directly (phone numbers listed here). I explained my problem to the CS rep, who then transferred me to Tech Support. I explained the problem to the Tech Support rep, and he offered to send me an HX750 in the hopes that it will resolve my problem. I accepted, and he said that it should ship out today. Hopefully this one works! Gwadj, my best advice is to phone in and speak to a Customer Service rep directly. - Tyne
Gwadj
Thanks Tyne. I made another RMA (5828637) and I was promised HX750, but I received TX750. And same problem continues. So I made yet another RMA.... 6009088. I hope RAMGUY would check this..
Tyne
Hi Gawdj, It seems like it might be their policy to try two TX750s before giving up and sending an HX750 - at least, that's the experience that I had, and I recall reading some posts of other people who went through the same steps. I've had my HX750 for a few days now, and it seems to be so much more efficient than the TX750 that the fan doesn't need to spin up at all (it does spin briefly on boot, so at least I know that it works). So, although it took about 6 weeks in total to get a working product, things do seem to be okay for me now. - Tyne
