KinAndTonic
So I have an h80 that was working flawlessly. Yesterday I received my new case. My older case was starting to feel cramped, so I got a bigger case and installed all my components without a problem. Now, I have noticed that while the H80's 3 oboard profiles work to the extent they they each have a different stock speed, they have stopped working dynamically. Since I game, I used to just leave it on the highest setting, but even then it was never very loud. Now, as soon as I turn it to the 3rd setting, it's very loud within 10 seconds. Any thoughts? KinAndTonic
Quick update: So, it looks like my temps aren't the greatest either. I had overclocked my i7 920 to about 3.9 and ran lengthy prime95 tests. If I remember correctly, my idle was about 35ish and around 65 - 70 under load. Now, my prime 95 tests are quickly blue screening. I did a quick lowering of the BCLK, where I am at 3.6 now. I haven't ran the tests yet, but my idle temps are still around 45. When I removed the h80 I used a coffee filter and iso alcohol to clean off the thermal paste. Before I put it back on, I put a bit of arctic silver on the h80. I screwed in the h80 block corner to opposite corner. Can't really think of anything I did wrong, but obviously I did.
KinAndTonic
Ok, another update, just in case anyone finds the thread and might have made similar mistakes. I'm a noob I know. First of all, I wasn't careful and installed both my radiator fans blowing in opposite directions. I changed them to intake. Also, I had attached the power from the H80 to a power connector from a fan control switch on my case. That was causing the H80 to run at a single speed rather than dynamic speeds. Everything looks good now.
