flanders125
So i recently got a h80i and i've been having some issues. The idle temps have been fine at 23-34c. but whenever i run prime95 the temps shoot up to 88-90c real fast and thats where i stop it. I've reset the pump on the cooler 3-4 times. The last time i used new thermal paste using the pea method and thats when i was getting those idle temps, but no matter what i do i can't keep the load temps low. whenever i play a game itll max at about 69c with a load at about 30%. I haven't gotten the new firmware yet would that make a big difference? thanks for any help/advice ** also i was using coretemp gt for my temps. i will try something else and run prime95 again to see. **** i used core temp and got the same results. will post a screen shot in a min http://i1014.photobucket.com/albums/af267/flanders125/Capture113421_zpsa4bac8d4.jpg
wytnyt
you should post your specs so as to better help you,,are you overclocked? using more than one program can give erratic readings for temps.
MacNB
Looks like you are overclocking to 4223Mhz on the i7-3570K. 89-90degC is a little high. You need to check your Vcore setting (and related DVID). On my i7-3770K, I was hitting 102degC @ 4.7Ghz with too high setting on Vcore (1.34v). I now get max 90degC @ 4.7Ghz with Vcore=Normal and DVID=0.065v while Prime95 is running 8 threads @ 100% load. Cooler is H100i So...your 89-90degC is a little high for 4.2Ghz but that may be due to your Vcore setting and your cooler seems fine.
wytnyt
i think you should be able to do 4.2 without any changes other than clock speed and hang below 70c,perhaps fine tuning will help ,of course unless your gaming then the oc wont be of much benefit and only see marginal differences in apps and such i took my 3770 to 4.4 and then dropped to 4.2 without noticing a big difference, except in way better temps. milan616
If your Vcore isn't too high, make sure your turbo isn't set to auto and same with line load correction. Those paired on auto can cause crazy high temps due to soaring voltage. Most motherboards can't correctly report voltage being line load corrected, so you might see something like 1.220v in CPUZ when in reality it's 1.342v (numbers pulled out of my behind). Sorry forgot to post specs. No its an i5 at stock speeds. I only used one temp program at a time. **update, thanks guys i changed the fan speed from turbo to standard and it has stopped the 90c temps. i ran prime95 and highest temps i saw was 74c
milan616
I actually meant turbo voltage as in "Additional turbo voltage" or whatever your bios calls it. Glad you got the temps down overall though. I wonder, what are your idle temps?

Um about the same 25-31c or so
