Avilon
I asked this before on another thread regarding a different problem , but no one answered me so I opened a new thread for this problem alone: when my pc wakes up from sleep mode the fans go to full blast at a very high noise level , takes around 10 sec to go back to normal, but when I restart my computer it doesn't do it , why is that and is there a way to fix this problem since its annoying to hear it 6-7 times a day thanks for the help im using the h80i 1.05 fw and the newest CL2 SW
wytnyt
when you run from a cold boot the fans will momentarily run full till the software controls them when simply restarting the software still has control when coming from hib or sleep, the software needs to detect the fans again. Bryman
mine goes full blast for 10-15 seconds when i boot my computer...its normal
Darkwing
ye, mine does it roughly 5 secs. only way to avoid it is by using a hardware controller I guess.

That means the power to the pumps and the fans too. On wake, power is restored to all components and the fans do it's normal full speed startup sequence. The fans will do this whether they are connected to the motherboard or the pump. The only way to get around it is to find alternative fans that do not do a full speed spin up test on power-up. sinnedone
I personally HATE this issue. Ive set up my computer to be fairly quiet, but every boot up it sounds like a jet engine spinning up. I personally think they should fix that in a firmware update. That way it would be stored intot the pump what max rpm is and not have to check every time its turned on. I mean who really thought that it would be a good idea that customers would enjoy hearing their pc take off every boot up? Fix that Corsair! That way it would be stored intot the pump what max rpm is and not have to check every time its turned on. This is not a pump issue. The pump is not putting the fan on in full speed. The fans are doing that themselves when power is supplied. Some of other fan manufacturers do the same.
sinnedone
The pump supplies power to the fans. The same fans attached to the motherboard do not have this issue. It can definately be fixed.
MacNB
That's weird. I have the new PWM fans and when I disconnect them from the pump and attach them to the motherboard, I immediately get a full speed blast. My BIOS is set to "silent" which means at around 32degC (CPU temp), the fans will be off. When I connect them to any of the system fan headers, they always come on full speed. Are yours the new PWM fans ?
Avilon
no im using sadly the 3 pin fans since im not in the us and it will take forever if at all that ill get the pwm fans. i dont understand how this could be "normal" why dont all the fans : case fans , gpu fans , psu fans go full blast every time it wakes up from sleep mode only the corsair pump fans ? whenm i had a high end fan cooling my cpu by thermaltake it never went full blast every wakeup , so the "normal" you post here is actualy abnormal since only happened to me with this product.... sinnedone
3 pin here as well. Totally agree with you Avilon. Souldnt have to have my pc sound like a jet for 10 seconds or so. Should be hard coded intot the pump not to do this.
MacNB
Well I guess this is "normal" for the Corsair PWM fans. I have am old no-name 120 mm 3-pin case fan and it does the same...full speed for a few seconds and then settles down to the speed it should be at (in my case that's silent or very low speed). Hmmm...may be my BIOS issue..that is, my BIOS is turning them on full speed (or the fans are doing it themselves). I do agree with you all that it would be nice for the pump to start the fans and speed them up user set speed..whatever that may be.

sinnedone
Asus fan expert. No problems there. If the pump can store led and fan speed profiles without the software a firmware update should keep it from doing that.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 20, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 20, 2013 The SW is not set up this way, the fans will run at max speed during boot or from sleep. The SW will take a moment to load the profile and then regulate the fans to what ever profile is selected last. This is how it is and we are not seeing this as an issue. No offense but just because some at corsair might see it as a "non issue" it gets really annoying after a while.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 20, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 20, 2013 I agree, but what I meant by WE was the general public.
sinnedone
If Corsair polled its current customers that have purchased a H100i as to wether or not they would like the fans to ramp up to 100% at boot Im pretty sure the answer would be other wise. It would be nice to know whether or not a firmware update could change this behavior? Then just add a "test speed" option in the software to get info from the fans and have that info stored in the pump the same way custom fan profiles and custom LED colors are. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 25, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 25, 2013 TBH with you, not that I am ignoring what you are suggesting (which is a good idea) BUT we are seeing other matters that requires immediate attention over this... maybe in the future. sinnedone
I can understand that. Thank you. Maybe you could pass it on to the development team for a later date.

RAM GUY, I see your post history... you are here each day, helping just about everyone that pitches up with an issue. Why then have I had a thread at the top for an age, where you've obviously seen it, along with about 300 other people? I've asked time again, for someone from Corsair to lend a hand... When I asked about my PWM Fans, you were pretty arsey to me, for about 5 million other enquires you posted exact details of what was going on, and where abouts their case was in the system... For me it was sorry mate, don't look at me, why don't you try call CS; why the f was that?! Have I p1ssed you off in a previous life or summ'in? ................... btw the fans going full blast at start up/after sleep, is a complete non-issue... they all do it, it is perfectly normal!!! Completely normal on the h100i, yes. Completely normal compared to other fan controllers, no. Try calling customer service if you need immidiate help. I mean that is why its there for.
