Pimp_c
hi.. I have a CMSA8GX3M2A1066C7 which i bought and I found out later that its a Mac memory.. I want to know if it will work with a non Mac laptop. To be specific, My friend has a lenovo z460 which requires a DDR3-1066 PC3-8500, and we want to use CMSA8GX3M2A1066C7 with his laptop, do you think it will work?tia
peanutz94
It may or may not work. Really no way to tell other than try it. I would just be sure where ever you bought them from will take them back if they dont. I would seriously consider looking up your system in the memory finder and get a kit from that list before you open that kit and return it. But thats up to you. http://www.corsair.com/us/learn_n_explore/

I tried to put the memory to the laptop and it works fine, no beep or error, it boots well and even faster.. but I don't know if it will take bad effect in the future.. peanutz94
. I tried to put the memory to the laptop and it works fine, no beep or error, it boots well and even faster.. but I don't know if it will take bad effect in the future.. If it is stable, then you should be just fine. The only way anything could happen down the road is if one of the modules would fail. But that wouldn't be anything related to "compatibility" and chances are you wont see that happen anyway. Even IF it would happen, Corsair carries a lifetime warranty on all their memory modules, so you would be covered. Glad to hear it worked out okay for you. I used that memory finder and they recommend this DDR3-1333 (PC3-10600) SODIMM.. but when I check the ram memory of the lenovo laptop it uses DDR3-1066 PC3-8500. That laptop can only use 1066mhz memory MAX. But the 1333mhz modules are listed as compatible because they would be backwards compatible and would just run at the max speed your system allows. Which would be 1066mhz. I don't know if thats what you meant they are showing up at the slowest speed or not. Actually the slowest RAM for that machine would be 800mhz. So if they are auto detecting at 1066, they are detecting correctly.
