excaka
hi, new to the forum, and also new to building computers. i just purchased a ibuypower computer, and it came with the stock 2011 socket liquid cooling. i want to replace it with the h100i. now ive seen installation videos, and the like but confused with one thing. which way to point the fans to exhaust air. i dont want to put outside air into the case due to dust. and i want to keep the fans under the radiator. i saw this link http://www.corsair.com/en/blog/how-to-install-the-hydro-series-h100i-cpu-cooler/ is the way he set that up, pulling hot air from inside the case, through the radiator and then out the case? sorry for the newb question, just wanting to make sure. babdi
Corsair recommends drawing cold air from outside. Since you prefer to exhaust I suggest to mount the radiator to the chassis and put the fans under with the tip of the arrow on the fan near radiator. For the H100i to perform better you should have the case cross ventilated to prevent heat build up.

babdi
Below the radiator and fans are visible
excaka
Below the radiator and fans are visible and that will make it into exhaust? in my 550d case i was just going to stock up on some sp120's. intake two in the front, two on the side of the case and one near the psu at the bottom. then exhaust one in the top back, and the two under the radiator of the h100i. does that sound right? or how should i set it up? Toasted
Make sure the fans are blowing air through the radiator to the outside of the case. That is exhaust. If the Corsair label with the fan specs are facing down to your motherboard, its on intake.
excaka
http://www.goldchip.uk.com/389-738-large/corsair-air-series-sp120-quiet-edition-high-static-pressure-dual-fan-.jpg so if this part is facing my mobo/gpu its intaking air? and if the other part with just the logo (front of the fan) is facing my mobo/gpu its exhausting air out of the case? excaka
http://it-review.net/uploads/images/Article/2008/corsair/corsair_hydro_h100i.jpg and the way this looks, means its exhausting air out the case, if the fans are installed face down? babdi
All fans have arrows pointing the direction of airflow and direction of rotation.

Toasted
The picture in post 8 is showing the fans as exhaust.

DatDirtyDawG
http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=113009 So then the instructions are incorrect? They recommend the fans to be used as intake and should be "installed as shown" yet "as shown" is exhaust (as per what you're saying). Which is it? If you go to the end of that thread I posted a pic of the instructions. I'll post it again
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 20, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 20, 2013 The photo does not imply nor provide info on how you should install your fans.. It's simply a photo of the cooler with the fan installed and nothing more. It's most likely for photo shoot (aesthetic) purposes. KEEP in mind that there is no specific rule on how you should install the fan... it can go either WAY, intake or exhaust - The user will have to determine what orientation best suit his or her system. This is the reason why I have mentioned so many times to try both orientation and compare results then go from there. There is NO set standard for this, it will vary from system to another.
