wilwoods
I am building a server platform using an ASUS P9X79 DELUXE Intel X79 Motherboard and Intel Core i7-3930K. The CPU does not come with a cooler so I was looking to instal the H80i. I don't want to have multiple applications running in the OS for fan control as this will be used for development but I want granular control of CPU and case fans from a UI. If I use Corsair Link on top of the resident Asus fan utilities will I be OK or will the ASUS system utilities give me granular control over the H80i CPU cooler and case fans. wytnyt
you cant use multiple programs to monitor/control your fans/cooler.only one can be used
wilwoods
which would you recommend? I am hearing from these forums that Corsair link is more flexible but its a challenge to get all of the ASUS system utilities to play nice. Your recommendation? wytnyt
im prejudice to be honest and asking me id say the corsair link,it does much more than any other software yes there have been bugs that have occurred using this but new software was just released so read users opinion and see if you think its good for you im one that has 2 of these with only slight bugs but still very happy with it. Raven0215
Short answer is the Asus program will give you just about all the functionality of the Link software. You wont be able to measure things like pump speed etc but you can't really adjust that anyways. The asus software also has some nice things the Link doesn't have like comply stopping fans. You could use both programs at the same time if you wanted ex: use the link software to conrol your H80i and the fans plugged into it and the asus software to control your case fans that are plugged into your motherboard. You could also plug your H80i fans into your motherboard and just use the asus software. My experience with the Link hasn't been the greatest and I am currently using the asus software since my Link kit was out for an RMA. I will probably try the link again this week since a new software update just came out. wytnyt is very helpful on these forums but sometimes I feel he is overly optimistic and forgiving of some of the faults of the link and how corsair has handled it in general. I think the general consensus on Link is that its probably at a late Alpha early Beta phase due to all the problems it has been having. The fact that corsair hasn't released the Link to major retailers such as amazon and newegg is pretty telling in my mind. In corsairs defense they seem to be quick to RMA a unit for people that have had problems but the last software update took entirely too long, hopefully it will be a solid release though. Cmanico
I personally like corsair links fan control over fanxpert, fanxpert goes by cpu temp to adjust the fan speed not core temp. And the the user created fan profiles is lacking. That said, I like the preinstalled fan profiles for corsair link, but again the user created profile seems kinda weird, I may just have to take more time to play with the settings there. At this point I would prefer to use Corsair link, as i can monitor so much more with it as I'm using the H100i and the AX860i.

The problem with using multiple software like that is that it can cause the sensors to read incorrectly. Or not function the way it should. As you said though it can't be adjusted.
