soljarag
Hello, I'm looking into getting a SABERTOOTH X79 Motherboard, and the only 32GB kit listed on their Qualified Vendor List is the CMT32GX3M4X1866C9 That is wayy more than I want to spend.... would the CORSAIR Vengeance 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 work? I want a stable system, so I'm thinking I go with 1600Mhz rather than the 1866Mhz What do you think?

As above 1600MHz it overclocking your system as I7 3930k run on DDR3-1066/1333/1600 memory architecture. http://ark.intel.com/fr/products/63697/Intel-Core-i7-3930K-Processor-12M-Cache-up-to-3_80-GHz Hope this help Sincerly yours
peanutz94
would the CORSAIR Vengeance 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 work? Yes, they would run just fine on that MB. However,You could run the 1866mhz kit EASILY on that board. It would be considered a very mild overclock and would run at 1866mhz with the same voltage as the 1600mhz kit just with a slight performance boost and still be 100% stable. If you really wanted to you could get an 1866mhz Vengeance kit for about the same money as the 1600mhz kits. The only difference is the possible overclocking headroom the Dominators may provide. They still show up in the QVL for that board so they have been tested and found to be fully compatible. The Dominator kit would win hands down!
soljarag
Thanks for the reply guys peanutz94, you may remember me from this thread: http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=115093 So as you can imagine, I'm alittle gun shy about system stability :) One question though.... I AM planning to overclock the CPU. If I go with just 1600Mhz RAM, will that limit how far I can go with the CPU?

No, not really. Generally the higher you go on a CPU overclock you have to reduce memory speed to compensate. So ,it should work out just fine for you. You'll get a bigger performance boost from higher CPU overclock than you would a higher memory overclock anyway! :)
jscholtenjr
So here's what I got: Sabertooth x79 I7 3930k 32gb vengence 1866 @1.5v (which is stock) The memory is totally stable at 1866mhz at the stock 1.5v. The cpu is overclocked at 4.4 and that's with everything on auto. I just turned the multiplier up to 44. Easy! Everything has been tested on prime95 fpr 24 hours with no sign of problems. Just need to change the speed and timmimg to what yoir memory needs. And with the x79 boards make sure that vcore gets plenty of airflow.
