H80i new user, questions about fans and software

Hi folks,

First, I wan't to say that I'm very satisfied with H80i that I got today :D:

Test it with prime95 for 2 hours and gives me better results, 17-20'C difference, than with the Phenom II 965 stock HSF.

Now down to business,

(A) Fans

When I first install the h80i, only one of my fan works, the other seems dead. The I make sure the cables are correctly connected and they are. After several restart with no avail, I switch where I plug the fans cable.

(There are 2 slot in the waterblock that I could plug the fans cable, one slot resulting in only 1 fan operating, and the other slot could have both fans operating).

Question about fans:

1. Does it mean one of the fan kind of weird or one of the slot in waterblock is the culprit for making only one of my fans to work?

2. Both fans have different maximum rpm (2300ish and 2400ish) on corsairlink software information. Is it normal?

3. The fans get real loud whenever I turn my PC on... Is it normal?

(B) Corsairlink software

I used to have MSI Control Center to control my Heatsink's fan, changing multiplier and volts, reading temps and volts. Now since I had the H80i and installed corsairlink, I still use control center to control the fans on the H80i by using MSI's smart fan control thingy.

Questions regarding corsairlink:

1. Should I remove the MSI control center to avoid conflict?

2. Should I turn off MSI's smart fan control in BIOS if I want to use corsairlink to control the H80i fans?

3. One of my drive temps in the corsairlink shows an amazing 108'C

Nearly makes my heart stopped :p: anyway to correct the temp reading on that drive? (It's the seagate one that get 108'C, wd blue had 32'C)

there it is, 6 question regarding the H80i ;):

any advice and answers are more than welcomed... with a big hug :o: hehehe

thanks in advance :)

Now my fans, pump, and led reading in the CL software are messed up....

The fans and pump shows 0... the MSI control center shows the cpu fan at 3500rpm, and at bios the fans shows an amazing 4200rpm!!

that couldn't be right, could it??

I wan't to changed the rpm of fans but I can't and it's look like it stuck at max rpm by the sound of it.

Also, now the device options tab in CL doesn't show the h80i unit...

A. Fans

Check the Y-splitter cable are there any loose cables or pins?

1. Plug the non-working fan into a motherboard fan header and see if it works fine

2. The Max. Fan speed that is collected isn't really accurate. Use the Fixed (%) Mode and plug it to 100% that should run the fan at max speed.

3. Yes, it's normal.

B.

No, The H80i fans cannot be controlled by the MSI software as it's not connected to the motherboard. You'll need to use the LINK software to control the fans.

Other

1. Is it conflicting?

2. No, it's not required if the fans are plugged into the H80i block

3. That is the S.M.A.R.T. values from the drive not the real one. It should be fixed in a later software update.

Done that, each fans would run on the cpu fan header directly. The y splitter cable works on one of the plug on the waterblock, but if I connect it to the other plug on the waterblock.. It seems to only power 1 fan.

So the fans is okay if it gets real loud when I turn my PC? I'm afraid that's related to power spike like when a lamp in my room suddenly turns very bright :p:

Thank you for your kind answer and I'll be waiting for the software update... on second note about the s.m.a.r.t. value of the drive, it seems that Corsairlink get confused with the seagate's fahrenheit and celcius data... If I put it in fahrenheit, it shows me 42'F but it's 108' in Celcius...

And about the rpm of fans and pump didn't showing up, after several trial and error with installation and switching usb header... turns out that in order to have corsairlink detect the h80i, I have to unplug my usb card reader and usb gamepad each time I want to restart or turn on the PC.

Thanks Mr. Toasted :)

What version of CL software are you using?

Because mine is version 2.2.0 and doesn't look like yours.

Are you using an older version?

Or maybee a never one? If yes, where do you got it from?

Thanks!

I use 2.2.0 but the case in the background is my case... just right click at the background and select upload your own pic.

It seems like one of the ports are faulty. You can contact your seller and ask if they can replace the H80i for you. If not you can request an RMA.

Thanks for your advise :D: and for replacement/rma h80i, will it perform like mine? Like are all the waterblock/pump/radiator of the h80i production lines is consistent?

Thing is, my h80i with push fan performance and pull fan balanced, could do a 38/39'C idle and 54'C full load on phenom II 965 @ 4.2ghz 1.48v, in a room temperature of 29'C and case ambient of 34-36'C.

And I'm affraid the replacement's waterblock/radiator/hose/pump wouldn't perform on the same level with my current h80i. :[pouts:

Chances are, you will get the identical results when you get your H80i replacement. You can start using the link on the left to start an RMA request.

Okay then RAM GUY, but I'll try the local distributor first, see if I could get replacements from them.. (Trying to avoid shipment cost hehehe).

A software update is out. it should fix the drive temp readings

Corsair LINK v2.3.4816

http://www.corsair.com/us/media/cms/drivers/CorsairLINK2_Installer_v2.3.4816.exe

Just finished try-ing out...

Issues with drive temp reading resolved, but issue with external usb port still exist. In my case, it is the usb ports in front of my case. Everytime I connect a gamepad or card reader, it'll make the H80i undetected (all fans, led, pump, radiator temp undetected).

But it's fine with connecting it through the ports in backplate.

Chuwawa - Not really sure if this is still a CL SW issue, more like HW issue. Have you update your MB USB drivers? chipset? What bout when you those devices plugged in already and restart the system? does the SW see those devices?

When I read another thread about Corsairlink software here, there are other user that have trouble with his usb hub.

After doing some test again:

- Drivers are up to date.

- MB Bios aren't up to date because the 2.2 version couldn't be reversed to previous version and MSI suggest only those using win8 should update it.

- Gamepads and mouse still functional, only that LC couldn't detect the H80i whenever there are usb input device in the front usb port.

- The issue only happens in the case's front usb ports, the backpanels usb ports are ok.

- Card reader (previously having trouble), usb flash, usb hdd.. all didn't make the H80i goes stealth on LC software. Only gamepads and usb mouse make the h80i goes undetected by LC.

- Switching usb header in the mobo between my case's front usb and h80i didn't do any good either.

- CL could only detect H80i if there are no usb input device in the front port, then turning on or restarting the pc.

Here's screenshot of CL and device manager...

http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr68/chuwawakuya/LC-not-detecting-H80i.jpg

*gamepads are "digital pad" dual gamepad on single usb port.

*mouse are logitech m310

If this are realy HW issue, then it means I can no longer use my front usb ports to connect my gamepad :[pouts:

I can always use the ports in the back tough..

I have gone to the shop where I bought the H80i about faulty fan port on one of the waterblock ports. They test it, then give me a new H80i set.

But, when I test it there about the gamepad issue on front case's usb... the problem seems consistent with my PC. (They test it with a the shop's test bed).

Well, it seems all my problem with H80i has been sorted except with the front case's usb port that makes the CL couldn't detect H80i everytime I connect my gamepad to the front port.
