Flipper3
Even after the lack of information and negative posts about the Corsair Link, I still am interested in buying one of these but have some questions that I have been unable to find anywhere and am wondering if anybody knows the answers to: Can the Link be used with any case, not just Corsair cases? I have the Cooler Master HAF XM and would like to put the Link in this.If I purchase the H100i and buy extra fans for it, then will these fans be detected by the Link?Based on posts, it seems that aftermarket fans are a hit or miss. Are there any fans that people have tested to work? What kind of connection is there for the GPU Node? With 4 fans on the H100i, that counts as 4 fans plugged in on the Link Commander; correct? Can you control the speed of the fans or does the Link control the speed automatically? Can you turn specific fans off? Thanks in advance!

Flipper3
some are answered here i think http://www.corsair.com/blog/ten-questions-about-corsair-link Thanks that link helped. However, it still wasn't able to answer all like if the Link supports non-Corsair cases and other questions that I had.

Thanks in advance! 1: Yes Cosair Link can be used with any cases that you like to use. As long as the fans you have is 3 or 4 pins. 2: As long as you connect the fan to the Link it will be detected 3: I use all Corsair fans (from AF and SP series), so far miss for me as i can't spin them down to 400-ish RPM, they make noise (tick-tick-tick-tick) 5: Yes correct the Link Cooling node has 5 ports for 5 fans, if you want more you must buy one extra Cooling node 6: You can choose between different profiles in the Link software, automatic or you can set it to a fixed speed, all up to you. 7: Seems not, i tried to set the Fixed RPM to 0, but the fan did not stop. I see this a legit request for change of the software. One should be able to switch of a fan completely if one like to. I hope this helped you a little bit? iWingers
Thanks that link helped. However, it still wasn't able to answer all like if the Link supports non-Corsair cases and other questions that I had. I'll try answer them numbered the same as your questions. 1. Yes, it fits into any 3.5" drive slot. The only Corsair case that benefits from the Corsair Link is the 600T with it's fan controller. 2. Depends on the fans, but you are able to plug 4 fans directly into the H100i and they will still benefit from Corsair Link 3. There's been an update to the Cooling Node (1.2.5) that is supposed to help with detecting aftermarket fans, but you could also plug 4 fans into the H100i, and use the digital cable to connect to the Commander by itself. 4. The GPU node is an analog connection. It plugs into one of the temperature sensors on the Cooling Node itself, and you then change the reading to power in Corsair Link 5. Yes 6. You can create your own fan profiles, set it to RPM in numbers, set it to RPM using percentage, or use Corsair's own profiles. 7. I personally haven't tried it, but you should be able to just set the percentage to 0% and it should turn off, but don't quote me on it :) If it helps, I own an AX860i, H100i, Link Commander, two Cooling Nodes, a Lighting Node, a GPU Node and a 600T. So I am getting the full benefit of Link
Frank_Jarle
5 Additional information: The fans is not plugged into the Commander, this is the main unit box. This is the box that has a total of 8 channels and you can connect up to 8 other connections here. As for my system i have connected 1 Cooling node (which contain 5 ports for fans and has 4 temperature sensors), 1 connection from H100 pump and 1 Connection form AX860i. When all is working i will add the Lighting kit which then means i have taken 4 of total 8 ports in the Commander.
iWingers
Didn't realise you'd already replied Frank :p Another thing that'll help. If you do get a kit with cooling node, try and not update it if you can help it, as fans will make a tick at anything other than maximum. But you can leave some fans connected to the H100i and they won't be effected.
Flipper3
Thanks for the responses guys! iWingers: What do you mean by not update it? I am trying to understand the steps that I should go through (for Windows 8) -Install the Link Cooling Node and GPU Node. -Attach the H100i fans to the H100i, and connect the H100i main cable to the Cooling Node -Install the latest software on my Win8 computer and run as Win7 Compatibility What about firmware, etc? iWingers
The H100i, Commander, Cooling Node and Lighting Nodes can e updated. If you can help updating the Cooling Node to 1.2.5 I would see if your fans work without it, as mine now tick if not running at 100% Here's a screenshot of all the latest firmware (except I have 1.0.4 on H100i because 1.0.5 doesn't work with Commander at the moment, only by USB) http://puu.sh/2drLI

Thanks in advance! I have used both 120mm and 140mm Akasa viper fans(pwm). They have actually worked better with the Link then the corsair fans I purchased(3-pin). I couldn't get the corsair fans to work by connection them to my H100 they would only work with the software when connected to the cooling node. I would recommend waiting and seeing what the next patch brings. I recently had to RMA my link since it stopped detecting fans and wouldn't control the speeds of others. I have been using the Asus software that came with my motherboard and it has worked perfectly. I received my Link back after an RMA but don't really want to install it again until an update comes out.
