Ghoy
I have the high pitch pump noise problem with my new H100i and after doing research and reading through this forum I've noticed that the problem are the fan connectors. Temp solution for me is as suggested on this forum to connect the fans to the motherboard but the problem was actually finding more room for two additional connectors on my Sabertooth Z77 motherboard since I'm also using a brand new Corsair 550D case which already comes with 3 pre-installed fans(2 intake , 1 exhaust). On the end I decided to disconnect one of the intake fans in order to get both h100i pump fans connected. Really not a fan of this so I'm probably going to RMA the pump fans so I can actually use the Corsair link without gimping my case air flow. My questions are: 1.) This is my first time doing RMA on any Corsair product, if I put in a request to RMA fans do they expect me to actually send the defected fans to them first or do I do that after receiving the replacements? I assume it's the latter since it would be pretty stupid otherwise. 2.) the pump's 3 pin connector is currently connected to my motherboards CPU_FAN fan 4 pin header, I've noticed however that in the 3 pin connector there's really just one pin? 3.) My motherboard reports that the cpu fan runs at 2200, is that the normal rpm for the H100i pump and can it be changed via motherboard controls like for example I can change the rpm of chassis fans etc... lifanek
Hey there! For what I know: 1)It would be great, but I just recived my RMA answer with address where I have to send my fans. 2) This is just for RPM signal (it's faking CPU cooler so your PC can read pump rpm bla bla bla...) 3) Yes its normal and you cant change it. I'm just user, plz correct me if I'm wrong. Still I have a question (asked few times around here, maybe someone will notice it here and answer me plz) - do I have to send the entire set or just fans? And in my opinion - connecting fans to motherboard is, for me, not a workaround, because I can't controll my fans as usual (I don't give a ... about 3rd party software, I paid over 100$....). snfo
1) NO, you don't have to send your fans back. Didn't send mine and now I have 4 fans. Ignore every request for sending your product back. That happens because of automated emails. 2) That's only to tell your BIOS that you have a working cooler 3) Yes, but no change because the pump is powered by the SATA connector. lifanek
just did the same thing - cause I also have 550d, Sabertooth Z77 and H100i, and know pump is silent but still those fans (3pin stock) are very loud ;/ also because I dont have full control through ThermalRadar (0% and then 40-100%)
Cmanico
I bought the h100i 2 weeks ago, on initial setup i loved the cooling properties, but the noise from the pump and fans got annoying, so I hooked the fans to the motherboard headers pump makes 0 noise now, but the fans still vibrate badly from 900ish rpm till about 1500ish rpm, at which point the vibration lessens and the sound of the fans moving air drowns it out. these are the 4 pin fans. Furthermore I'm not getting near the fan control that i got using corsair link to control the fans and I'm not getting as good cooling properties which i blame for the way Fan Xpert goes by cpu temp and not the actual core temp, and the limited profiles for the cpu fan. Honestly i feel as if i should not have to use a 3rd party program to control fans that came with a 100+ dollar cpu cooler. I've considered buying differnt fans, but i really don't want to hae to spend yet another 30 + dollars to get a funtional unit. Wondering if i could put in an rma for new fans, or would i still have to use the motherboard headers
