Corsair Vengeance and OC'ing

I have an ASRock 970 Extreme 3 with 16 gigs of vengeance 1600, and a FX-4100.

If I allow the system to auto detect the processor speed and RAM, It shows the correct timings. However, if I manually configure the processor speed to be OC'ed, the speed of RAM decreases from DDR3-1600 to DDR3-800.

I set the processory multiplier to 18.5 and speed spectrum to 217 to get 4,014 (stock 3600). I leave the DRAM Frequency to Memory Profile 1 selected and upton rebooting, the speed has changed from 1600 down to 800. My system works ok but I'm not sure why the speed of the memory is being reduced.

Any ideas?

It's common for your memory speed to reduce when overclocking the processor. You more or less have to sacrifice one for the other. But can you post a pic of where your seeing the 800mhz?

Are you just setting the memory manually? AMD systems do not support XMP.

It shows up in the BIOS as DDR3-800 instead of DDR3-1600.

I'm not changing values for RAM, processor only.

You should get your memory stable and running where you want and then start overclocking the CPU. You may want to look for overclocking guides for your CPU/MB and get an idea of how to go about raising both CPU and memory.
