H100i fans stuck on 1800RPM

I felt I needed a separate thread for this.

I've just replaced the stock fans on the H100i for some Corsair SP120's and now their RPM is stuck on on 1800 in Corsair Link and whatever setting I change them to they stay at 1800 RPM.

Yet if I put the stock fans back on I can change the RPM - what's up with this?

I bought the SP120's thinking they would be quieter...well that isn't the case at all. Both the stock fans and the SP120's are 3-pin and connected to the Y splitter that goes to the H100i CPU block, so Corsair Link v2.2.0 should be controlling them, but it isn't.

It seems I can make them go faster but no slower than approx 1800 rpm.

And they are LOUD at 1800 rpm. Almost as loud as my ****ing Dyson.

Pretty stick of all the problems I've been having with this piece of crap. If I can't get a solution I'm ripping this **** out of my PC and sending it back to Scan.

The SP series fans along with most other 3pin fans are not controllable with the LINK software. It has to do with the way the fans are supplied voltage to run and be controlled.

It's also the reason they started shipping out PWM replacements.

Actually we prefer that you just keep updating your original thread. It gets pretty tough to keep chasing threads.;):

Okay, I'll do that next time. In hindsight I should have called my first thread "My problems with H100i" and gone from there. I only just got the SP120's today so I'm sending those right back.

I've put the stock fans back on, at least they don't sound like a Dyson, only problem is the high pitched whine like whistle that the fans make.

I've got them set to 1100 rpm, not sure if this good or bad. I also flipped them and put them back on the outside of the 600T case in a PULL configuration.

Have you asked for the new PWM fans to replace the originals yet. If not i would do so.Just use the link on the left to request an RMA and explain that you need the new PWM fans for your cooler. That should get rid of the noise from the pump.

Yes I just did an RMA now. I hadn't noticed the whine before because of the wind noise. The whine is reallly quite sharp, like tinnitus.

I live in the UK, can I still RMA or do I have to send the H100i back to Scan.co.uk for a repalcement - a replacement that has the 4-pin PWM fans?

Also, just out of interested something else that's bothering me - why can't I disable devices in Corsair Link, it's pointless having GeForce fans and Drive Temp on there but when I disable them they come back again.

You do not have to return anything back, simply submit an RMA and explain the problem and we should be able to send you just the PWM fans.

You should be able to delete the icon, make sure to uncheck the option under settings that says "show all devices" then save it to your profile.
