SP2500 remote makes annoying sound

Recommended Posts

I just got a SP2500 set. Sound is great and I love it.

However I can't use the set on low volume. The remote control is making a buzzing sound. It's always there. Even when switched off.

I tried different power sockets throughout the house, disconnected everything else except for the sub woofer power cord and the remote control.

As soon as I plugin the power cord, the remote control makes this annoying sound. This is when the sound system is not switched on. When pressing the power button on the remote, the static sound goes to a higher tone (around 10 kHz) and is even a bit louder then when switched off.

I'm pretty sure that a high quality sound set with this price tag shouldn't include a remote control that makes any sound.

I'm just wondering what the issue can be and what part is broken. Is it only the remote control and can I start a RMA for that?

Please advice.

Hello,

I've just plugged in my new SP2500 and noticed the same issue (I started an RMA like Ram Guy suggested you).

Do you have any news on the RMA? I'd be happy to know if your replaced remote is better, to know if it was a defective remote or if it's a design issue (In which case I would change to another product).

Thank you

I just got the replacement delivered and the issue is gone. Only the speakers make a sound now when I want to :)

Thank you very much ram guy for your help and kudos to the customer service for their assistance.

Hello Corsair team,

I have got my Corsair SP2500 yesterday (16. March 2013) and tried it. Unfortunately there is the same issue as described here:

The controller/remote makes a very high pitch sound all the time. So I can't use the system normaly with this annoying sound but i would love to use it.

I did start also a case with this number: 5746925

I live in Germany and hope, that you can help me as fast as possible.

Thank you!

Thank you for your reply RAM GUY.

I got a message with RMA to send the controller to an address in Netherlands first, before i will get a replacement.

My problem is: that takes too long time for me, before i can use my SP2500. The shipping will surely last more than one week from germany to netherlands. After that you will check the controller and send me maybe a new one, where the shipping will also last more than one week.

I bought my SP2500 on Amazon Germany, and have the option to return them within 14 days and get my money back to buy maybe a new one. This would take maximal one week to wait for me.

My offer would be, if you could send me the replacement controller first. On receipt i would send the "brocken" one back to you.

Is this possible from your side, or is it better to send the system back to Amazon?

I would really like to use this system because of the good sound.

Thank you.

Regards

Paul

Thank you for your fast reply.

I wrote yesterday morning a email to rma@corsair.com with the text from my last post, but i didn't get any response till now.

Do you think, i have a chance to get the replacement controller first before i will send the defect one back to corsair?

Thanks.

Regards

Paul
