Very Strange:M65 tracking issues. Frustrating!

Recommended Posts

Hey so i picked up a m65 the other day. First experience with corsair gaming peripherals. I loved it. It worked great for the first 2 or 3 days without a hitch. Then randomly stopped moving. Clicks would still work but no pointer movement. I restarted, resinstalled software etc. It would work and then stop randomly.

Once it stopped the only way to fix it is unplug and replug it in. Then i discovered that it would remain moving until i typed on my keyboard (k60 purchased same day). Then discovered that if i kept the mouse moving while typing it would be ok, but as soon as i stopped the mouse and pressed a key it would no longer track.

I shut down the computer frustrated and went out of town for a couple of days. When I came back and plugged in my computer it was tracking perfect. Then it started to get choppy and would get worse and worse over about 5-10 seconds before it would no longer move.

I tried a different surfaces and found one place on my desk that it will track just fine, but any of my mouse pads it will not. This is the same mouse pad I had used for the first 2-3 days. and it tracked fine.

Now it will track perfect on the mouse pad for about 5 seconds then stop and i have to move to the one part of my desk it will track on.

The sensor is clean on the mouse, the mouse pad is clean, the pad was used for 2-3 days fine, and it also tracks fine with my g9x and my rat5. I cant figure out why it used to work fine now it doesn't, and i have no idea what the whole press a key mouse stops moving until you unplug/replug.

Please help me out corsair I had high hopes for this mouse =(

Ok some updated triage.

All latest drivers, firmware, software. Same result.

I tested on a buddies computer with both my mouse pads and it works fine.... tracks perfect.

What could be on my computer/wrong with it to cause the mouse to not work on black soft gaming surfaces??? I'min IT and can usually deal with 99% o my problems on my own but I'm so baffled with this one...

I thought you might have the same issue as I had with my M60, but yours sounds slightly different. My M60 didn't track at all on my mouse pad, but it tracked perfectly on my desk.

Try increasing the Lift Height to the highest setting and see if that helps. If it doesn't click on the RMA button on the left of the forums and fill out the form.

Ok, i uninstalled all my USB devices and reinstalled them. That seemed to fix it for a few days. Worked great, and said I had a good surface.

Just now though it began again. But this time not quite as bad. If i slightly lift the mouse up VERY slightly I can sometimes get it to track normally, and if i wiggle the mouse around a lot it will track every once in a while. It also now tracks for the first couple seconds after moving to the mouse pad. I'm very confused.

In my experience weird problems are often power related. If you have this computer plugged into a surge protector, try a wall socket.

How old is your power supply? Does the mouse get worse when the computer uses a lot of juice gaming?

Also there is the possibility of software of course, you may want to try a fresh reinstall.

Another software test would be to create a virtual machine on your computer and see how it functions in that.

I purchased the mm600 gaming surface and it acts just like my soft black mousepad.

It has a 2-3 year old 1100watt thoroughbred power supply.

Its plugged into a very nice surge protector, i guess i can try the wall but its so intermittent, and it is ONLY on mouse pads.... just doesn't seem like a power issue. Fortunately I haven't had it go out while gaming, just general use. (but I have not been doing a ton of gaming lately)

It literally stopped working on the mm600 while i was typing this I moved to the desk and it worked fine. About a minute later I tried the mm600 again start working again on the pad...

It just happened again with the mm600, worked great for 10 min or so, then started getting a bit choppy, over the next minute or so it became unusable on the mm600. Still works fine on the desk.

It'll work for about 3 seconds flawlessly on the mm600 then starts getting choppy and slows down, within 10-15 seconds its unusable until i switch to desk. If i let it rest for several seconds it begins to work again for a few seconds before slowing back down and becoming unusable.
