TX650M won't boot system; fans run

I am replacing an OE HP power supply that does not have an on/off switch. The on/off switch is built into the case.

After installing the new power supply and turn the power supply switch on and then hit the on button located on the case the power supply turns on but the system does not boot. I can hear/feel the hard drives spin but they don't make the normal noises associated with booting up Windows. No beeps and since there is no boot sequence the monitors don't show any activity and go to sleep.

All the internal fans (CPU, case fan, video card) run but no bootup.

I tried the new PSU in a different system and it worked fine. I thought the on/off switch on the case might have something to do with the problem but the other system has the same configuration and that did not present a problem.

When I put in the old power supply everything boots and runs fine. It makes no sense to me so I am looking for any suggestions.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hp Pavilion Elite HPE case.

At least I know I am not completely nuts! I have posted this problem to HP's Hardware forum, Newegg as well as a few others and have yet to receive a single suggestion. In reading other POST problems I have cleared my CMOS as well as any other suggestion with no resolution to the problem.

OEM systems such as DELL, HP ect often use proprietary PSU's, as well as other parts Just makes it hard to impossible to upgrade these types of systems.

I would have to say this would appear to be the case in both situations. To be sure , you might ask that question on HP site .

It's possible you may have to get one direct from them

Pssible, but now you have me wondering since it worked in another DELL machine. I know there are weird issues with that Pegatron MB. I see that model number come a lot.

You might want to ask in the HP forums too...just to see if any one from HP has any Ideas.

At any rate...Is there any chance you bought it locally that you could swap it for another unit easily? Or someone with another non-hp PSU that you could test in your system to see if you get the same behavior?

I asked in the HP forums but other than an 'expert' asking for the system specs I never received another response. The system is out of warranty and I bought direct from HP but I'll swap the Dell PSU for the HP when I get a chance and post my results. Thanks again.

After searching the HP forums, I found other HP Pavilion Elite owners who tried to install the TX650 and got the exact same results. One of them switched to an HX650 and it worked. Another switched to the CX600 and it worked as well. Since the CX600 is about half the price of the HX650, I got one of those and it installed and worked perfectly.

Hi everyone. Problems start with the new TX650 V2 I bought after a long research. Accordingly with Corsair Calculator, I should buy a 500 watts PSU but I bought a 650 watts one.

After a couple of months, someday the monitor goes black (no video signal and no floating color bar test) but hard drives, DVD-ROM, CPU fan still running. Also the chipset heat dissipator was warm (I don't overclock). After a couple of long hours, the only way out was unplug the cord. At the new boot same issues. No video signal, no BIOS beeps, CPU fan runs, DVD-ROM leds on and works, hard drives runs but no BIOS screen, no POST, no OS loaded, nothing. The only way out: unplug the cord again and clear the CMOS, uninstall-reinstall CPU fan, hard drives, PCI card, RAM module. Imagine doing it one or two times a week for the last eight months and when worse, sometimes two or three times a day. Checked the mobo (Asus M3A78-EM) with every kind of internet founded-for-home-DIY tests. And the mobo passes. Today I run the PSU paper-clip test and the it passes. No more ideas.

Today I receive the RMA but if I do this, I should spend money to ship the PSU to USA (I live in Latin America and bought the PSU through Amazon) and after, will spend more money to ship the new PSU from USA to my country. And I will not be sure if the new PSU will be OK. Same issue if I apply for a non-complete Amazon refund.

So, can someone tell me which could be the problem or explain me a non-so-expensive solution?. Thanks so much in advance and my apologizes for my english :-)
