Timmall
I just installed my new corsair link and cooling node, updated the firmware and got everything up and running. Suddenly, for whatever reason, one of the fans on my H100 has shutdown and is no longer recognized. I'm at a loss...anybody know what's going on? wytnyt
are the fans hooked to the hydro or to the link?
Timmall
Hooked up to the hydro
wytnyt
Hooked up to the hydro since you have a cooling node you can hook them to that and control them or if you want to diagnose the hydro hookup then swap the fan connections at the hydro and see if the fan not running stays the same
Timmall
I'll give your diagnostic suggestion a shot...I might add that both fans are running at maximum upon boot up so, I don't think I have a defective fan. Just can't figure out why that fan isn't detected anymore and shuts down.
wytnyt
their designed to run at full speed on boot up,you can control the fans either from the hydro or the cooling node

Timmall
I've already learned this is the place to go with questions & answers...I absolutely love this forum, you guys are great. By the way, before I could do the swap of the fans on the hydro, both fans quite working. I've disconnected the commander to get some cooling to the hydro. Both fans are operating at max after a reboot. Something is seriously wrong after installing the commander link. Everything works fine without it. wytnyt
ok so the fans are connected to the hydro?,the hydro has 3 set profiles to choose from to regulate fan speed by pushing the hydro block button
Timmall
Yeah, I've set the button to low and they are still running at max. I'm going to reboot again and see if they correct themselves.
wytnyt
a cold boot is needed to reset things
robandcathy
you may not have fans that work with the link and full speed on boot is totally normal. My fans do that with out link.
Timmall
Well, after a mostly wasted Saturday trying to get this thing to work correctly, and then having the hydro completely shutdown and multiple errors with my system, I chose to uninstall the Link on Sunday to get everything "back to normal". At this point I am not sold on this product and think I made a bad purchase. I may try to install again within the next thirty days (before my RMA runs out) or just give up and return this. Opening the case and pressing a button to control my H100 and adjusting my case fans manually seems a heck of a lot easier than dealing with the frustration of trying to get this thing to work properly. I also found that the temperature readings I was getting with the Link were about half of the readings from BIOS which concerns me. As far as the fans not working with the Link, I would be surprised to learn that a product from the same manufacturer is not compatible. If that's the case, then this is a product I don't need. Oh well, live and learn.
Timmall
Oh, one more thing that may help someone if the fans on your hydro start running on high and it seems you have no control...hold the button on the block down for about 5 seconds and it seems to reset itself and you have manual control once again. I would be remiss if I didn't also thank wytnyt and robandcathy for their responses to my questions. Thank you both for stepping up and trying to help me out. I LOVE THIS FORUM AND ITS MEMBERS! Timmall
Thanks, I've been reading many of the posts and I know you're getting a lot of heat. What, exactly, should I return? The Link Commander, the Cooling Node, or both with all of the cables?

robandcathy
All I can say is I feel your pain like many others but it should be days before another update (finally) so just wait and see how it goes. Now granted im going on a eta form corsair which has been postponed so many other times, but do wait it out and trust me when I say if you go over 30 days you still will be able to return it . That's the best part of corsair is customer service they never left anyone in the dark or cold since I have been on these forums and they are understanding knowing of the issues. I rma 3x all ready out of warranty but not in last year cuz I know now it not the link, but software.
Timmall
I truly appreciate the support and feedback. Maybe you can add some clarity to the RMA process...I received an email from Tech Support today and it gave me a link to read the message but, there was nothing there except an opportunity to reply to the non-existent message. Did I miss something? I really thought the message would contain my RMA info.

Timmall
Thanks, again, robandcathy, for the tremendous support! If Corsair hasn't thanked you for the support and insight they certainly should.
Timmall
Just a quick update...huge Kudos to Corsair customer support. I received my PREPAID RMA label today and my unit will be returned tomorrow. I did not call to request the RMA, it was handled entirely via email with no problems. As a result of the excellent customer service I will give the Link system another shot. Thanks goes out to Ram Guy and the entire Corsair customer service team!
