pepe123
I've just bought the PSU. Is there any way of disabling the full speed fan run when powering the system (some kind of self-test?)? I cannot imagine that PSU advertised as quiet goes full speed (very noisy) on each start (about 10 seconds). With this function it is more noisy than my 80 bucks old PSU. Thanks. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 1, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 1, 2013 That is how the PSU's fan operate during initial boot, it is a self test that runs the fan at max speed, then settles down once Windows is loaded.
pepe123
1. Thanks for response. It does not make any sense to me...why would anyone design it like this? Full speed (like jet engine) for 15 seconds each start?? 2. Is this design across all Corsair PSU or is it limited to flatronics OEM units? 3. Any chance to RMA for a unit without this "function"? Synthohol
1, even when you start a car it revs up before going to idle, the PSU is seeing the fans capability so it knows the fan is ok and ready to spin when needed. 2, most all the newer series do this, its a feature not a bug. 3, im surprised this bothers you, why dont you call Corsair toll free and discuss it with customer service, this is not a problem or a technical issue, its a matter of personal taste really. pepe123
1. Maybe it depands on a car. My car never goes to 5000 rpm on start, if it was the case, I would be very worried and went to a mechanic ;-) 2, ok, understand, as I said - makes no sense to me. 3, if you spend a few thousand $$ to have a quiet PC, then this can really bother you. I just wish it was mentioned in one of the reviews I saw/read before purchase. thanks for feedback, I need to think what to do with that.
peanutz94
2, ok, understand, as I said - makes no sense to me. The PSU does a self-test of the fan is all it is. It sort of like your MB when it checks for a CPU cooler before starting.
