element72
I read a few posts on here that says buying the same kit to expand your memory is not guaranteed to work because they were not tested together. I just bought my new Corsair TR3X6G1600C8D. I already have this same exact ram kit and my question is how will I know it is stable or how will I know I won't have any issues adding this ram kit to my computer? Yes my computer is overclocked and is stable right now. I have my existing Corsair TR3X6G1600C8D already overclocked to manufacture specs using the xmp profile.
Synthohol
its hit or miss with no guarantees or official support. if the version numbers are different there is even a slimmer chance they will play nice together. i hope you didnt waste your money. element72
Ok I understand that. But my question is how can I know if it is stable? What should I be looking out for? Maybe random blue screens while gaming? I get that when I have an unstable overclock.

But you can test it with memtest and let it run for about 5 passes or so. how will I know I won't have any issues adding this ram kit to my computer? You wont or can't There is just no way to tell without physically trying it. Chances are you will have to reconfigure your overclocks because of the increased load on the CPU and memory controller. I tried memtest a few years ago, but I was confused about which one to download because there are so many versions, and I can't tell which one to use. I found this just now http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=443843&posted=1#post443843 Should I follow this guide here? Is this most people use, memtest86+ ? I assume its straightforward when using it.
