Tacoboy
I just replaced (today) my AMD 945 cpu with the FX-4170 cpu. The memory (Corsair 2X4GB 2133) had no problem running at 8.00 (1600Mhz) with the AMD 945. But the memory will only work at 6.66 (1333Mhz) with the FX-4170, when I up the memory timing 6.66 to 8.00, motherboard comes back with an "OVERCLOCKING" error, and defaults back to 1333Mhz. Not sure what I'm doing wrong? Want to be able to get the memory up to 9.33 (1866Mhz).
Synthohol
did you reset the bios to defaults when you changed the ram?
Tacoboy
did you reset the bios to defaults when you changed the ram? The ram had been installed earlier in the week and was working fine at 1600Mhz with the old AMD 945 CPU, but I can try clearing the bios and reset everything. peanutz94
You might also want to make sure your BIOS is up to date for your new CPU.. If you have never done that I would check ASUS's site for a newer BIOS.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 25, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 25, 2013 Change the timings from AUTO to 9-9-9-24 and double check your DRAM voltages. You can slightly increase it to 1.55V to see if your memory controller may need the extra juice to accommodate the memory since Bulldozers are very power hungry. It worked, changed the timings 9-9-9-24 and then set to 8.00 (1600Mhz), worked fine. Then tried 9.33 (1866Mhz), so far works fine, still running memory at default 1.5 V.
